Canvassing a Lover
You have found the thing
with which to paint your lover.
A simple modest thing
of silk and beaded cover.
While duty-trumpets sing,
"let not a day to slumber,"
Great Solomon the King
has organized by number.
You have found the thing
with which to paint your lover.
A noir impassioned thing;
our blessed virgin mother.
A warm and silent string
to canvas for a murmur,
and plenty is the spring
to honor muse's hunger.
You have found the thing
with which to paint your lover.
A precious dying thing;
a paint that changes color.
