At Last, Humility

She cries for caring hands
she prays for a drop of care
she trembles sporadically
as she lies broken
crumpled on the grass
deep in the forest

She remembers so clearly
Life on a cushioned world
The inheritor of billions
Living on the Ritz of life
Thousands on her beck and call
Sitting on her pots of gold

Until those as needy
Professing Love eternal
Stormed her fortress
and now she lies there
ripped hard by knives
killed for her abundance

Darkness is coming
the spreading magenta
pooling around her
growing wider
she looks  at the stars
through shimmering tears

The stars seems to glow
As the scythed man
Looks gently  into her eyes
showing her what she was
at last she knows humility
for there is one greater than all.
