ADAM CAME HOME

Have you had enough war my friend?

For the battles will continue.

You've not much preparation to return to us civilians.

Every now and then,

I'd catch him trying to wipe clean the blood from his flesh.

The blood of his comrade, unseen by our eyes.

That memorial day when you smashed up the bar,

what enemy were you fighting my friend?

Now the red on our flag, blends in with his normal vision.

Explain the pitch black, vast desert at night,

and the waiting...

The waiting for the skies to fill with flares,

and the screams of human suffering.

He told me of the little brown boy,

whom he made eye contact with, before the I.E.D went off.

After the air filtered the smoke,

and the dust settled back onto unholy grounds...

Pieces of that little boy,

had rained down over the village...

but his eyes will forever be wide open,

inside that mind of yours.
