Technological Fodder

I imagine the world would be a better place if everyone treated their bodies like they treated their technology. Could you imagine what life would be like if we responded to our emotional needs as quickly as a text? If we paid attention to the subtle nuances in voice as well as we responded to our different ring tones? If our yawns were responded to in the same way as a low battery signal? If only getting eight hours of sleep was as important as charging our lap tops. How much more enjoyable our days would be if we got as many hand shakes as our fridge and as much eye contact as our televisions. Our love lives may experience dramatic improvement if we spent as many hours perfecting new moves as we do while playing video games. Parents would no longer lament about feeling distanced from their children if we checked in with them even half as often as we check our computer. Growing up I always had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't the blond babe with huge tits that was winning this popularity contest..it was a little glowing screen that kept popping up newer quicker and more efficient. Today my English teacher told me it was our responsibility as artists to be more interesting than cat videos on you tube....that may seem like a condescending statement but when you think about how many people would rather surf the internet than visit an art gallery...it's actually a huge challenge to meet. Here's to hoping one day my art is as widely known as troll face or grumpy cat.
