The Metropolis Prision

Australia is a place, far different from any other
a land where the scared find a home
where we can feel safe under the cover
where there is no helpless cry and moan
if only I could truly say this
if only this were true
the Australian identity has been thrust into the abyss
we have lost the meaning of true blue
there are people on the streets
and nobody seems to care
the teens on their phones, they don't have a clue
the young walk past told not to stare
what are we going to do?
babies born on the streets
their life over before it has even begun
the poverty cycle continually in repeat
while we live selfishly among
a Metropolis Prison, we need to change
the old Australia we should miss
why don't we feel strange?
why do we continue to do this?
why are we watching our nation bleed?
why don't we change? we need to try
why are we not helping those in need?
why?
