BRIMSTONE FALLS IN HEAVEN

(PART EIGHT OF THE TRAGEDY OF THE GOD-CROSSED LOVERS)

So then war came to Heaven,
Razing the spires and smoke darkening the clouds.
The Lord, Yahweh, looked on
His enemies seemed to surround Him without a gap
As Heaven was trampled beneath their feet.
Cut off from His allies,
With His only hope He looked to those whom He alienated,
But He refused to ask.
Lightning lashed against the skies
And thunder shook the holy grounds,
Then brimstone penetrated the air.
Scores of angels fell from the sky
With their white wings ablaze.
But there were no demons or foul dredges from the abyss
And no Devil for which to lay the blame.
But only the paranoia which set roots within His mind,
Yahweh laid destruction on those around him
And despair seized his being.
He realized that He had lost Faith,
For which she was the only true light in Heaven.
So He called her forth,
And with her, came The Devil.
