Inception (Spoken Word)

  The Myth
Dancing upon the precipice of a long troubled fortress
Two twitterpated teens sit in a place once called couple's forest
Passion erupts, their hands in a rush, heavy breathing
They clamor to touch, pants as they brush, very pleasing
Then a loud crash, probably a tree falling to earth
The girl jumped and took a pause, afraid, stalling their mirth
She's not ready for more, plus the sun was stealing the light
And to be here at dark was not quite feeling alright
Fear pulsed through her, she begged the boy they had to leave
"Because of a stupid story? Come on you can't believe...."
A rustle in the distance, he stopped, puzzled him in instants
Struggled with admittance but his zeal buckled like his mistress
He recalled the folk tale - A black beast of gargantuan size
And within its empty eyes are where our path to sin lies
Those that dance with it die, it consumes from within
It abuses the skin for amusement and grins
And finally devours every ounce of a man
Get your wits together before it pounces and scram -
Crudely constructed mental images buried any doubt
The boy was worried now, took his girlfriend and scurried out

  The History
Three missing, parents asking with impossible pleas
Police can't do much without any plausible leads
The rumor had increased like a tumor that's unleashed
Since authorities already knew they were deceased
Three bodies found, two separate witness accounts
Of a dark creature in the woods where mischief abounds
These incidents were a first in their recorded history
Uncertain causes of death added to assorted misery
Their small town wasn't too religious, but superstitious
people had the sole explanation as to who had did this
A demon, a devil, so tainted even evil would tremble
Screaming and dreadful until people were seen in a temple
Over time, memories of those long lost slowly faded
While the banshee's renown grew in bounds to be wholly hated
Solely fated to only make a mockery of truth
But it's hard to procure answers with a poverty of proof

  The Truth
The first one was a girl, Annabelle, in a manic spell
Hid alone in the forest without any plan to tell
Fourteen, she was sick of school and all the tricks of fools
Bullies exposed weak spots with a constant pick and pull
That day was overboard, she was so pissed and harnessed it
Found a branch, sharpened it, then her own wrists were targeted
Blood slid down her hands, too late to decide different
She lay down, the last phase of suicide, deliberate
Scavenging animals ruin the corpse, bugs and maggots
Nature shrugs at malice, no oddities, just a balance

The second was a boy, David out with his girlfriend
Unbeknownst to them, the prelude to how his world ends
Out chatting, having some late night summer seasonal fun
He went off to pee, then suddenly yelled she should run
She looked but only saw a black mass staring back
Thought it was a wraith but it was really a bear attack
A search party was sent to the same place in the wilderness
But the boy was long gone with no trace of deliverance

The third was a girl, Lisa, out with her current lover
A heartless guy who could pass as the serpent's brother
He brought this dame out there to get laid, plain and simple
So he could back up what he said and claim her dimples
She was stunning, gorgeous, but defined as a prude
Practically impossible anyone was finding her nude
He kept trying his moves, denial at each attempt
Until his frustrations became vile and reached contempt
Deep in the trees, he told her to steep to her knees
To which she replied "he wasn't even intriguing her, geeze"
An insane mighty blackout rage enveloped his psyche
Plus his persona made deadly developments likely
Scary, then madder, her body apparently shattered,
Pure wrong and before long bones were buried and scattered
He took advantage of the stories of other missing people
Fabricating a fable about barely missing evil

Reality is a fickle thing too delicate to mention
The legend was a lie since the second of inception
