The Gifts He Left Me

I thought he left me with an empty, broken heart, but once I dusted the negativity, forgave, and decided to heal, I realized there were precious life lessons he left within it as gifts from this wonderful relationship:

1.  Never take your love for granted.  Not for a minute believe that they will put up with your negativity.  Do not tell yourself they love you too much to walk away.
2.  Close your ears and open your eyes.  Sometimes your love won't say the truth of their agenda because they fear they may hurt you.  It is up to YOU to realize if the relationship is on the path you visualize following to achieve your dreams for your future.
3.  Only YOU can make yourself happy.  
4.  You can't control your love.  You MUST control YOURSELF.  Maintain RESPECT.
5.  Before falling in love make sure you know what the potential partner's future goals and dreams are because you can avoid heartbreak by being realistic.
6.  Do not get comfortable.  The earth is always spinning.  Things never stay the same.
7.  Only fall for someone who can provide what you expect.
8.  Take responsibility for your actions.  
9.  Do not get lost in the pain.  If you lay down in the pit too long you will get comfortable.
10.  Heartbreak is a universal feeling that everyone at one point or another taps into.  The details of your heartbreak are irrelevant.  It is simply part of the experience in this short life as a human being.  

Love is not enough to keep a relationship.  Respect, compromise, communication, and sharing similar future goals are key ingredients to a healthy relationship.
