The Almost Girl

Well somebody  once told me
The best words are from the heart.
So here's mine on the table,
Lets take this damned thing apart.
Now I'm no good at science,
The biology of things.
Thought I could just grow up fast,
Solve my problems with a ring,
But then my finger turned green

And it was back to square one,
Alone, with a bottle of wine.
I wasn't really surprised,
That his promises were lies.
Cause this isn't my first time
Or the first time I've had to say
They don't call me the almost girl
Because I always get my way.

Got the hell out of that town
Drove about four hours north.
With a suitcase and a plan
That really had no set course.
Didn't get what I wanted
So I moved in with his friend.
12 months of time I wasted
Waiting for that lease to end
It wasn't my best moment.

And it was back to square one,
Alone, with a bottle of wine.
I wasn't really surprised,
That my promises were lies.
Cause this isn't my first time
Or the first time I've had to say
They don't call me the almost girl
Because I always get my way.

Now the best way to sell something,
Is without them even knowing
Something was being sold at all.
I was sold, & you didn't call.
Once you got your hands dirty
On my smooth and porcelain skin,
It was on to the next one
You decided to trade in.
