The Other

On your mind there
should be only one,
yet there I am, the other,
the vise you will not shun.

In your mind’s peripheral
I remain unaddressed,
the dirty little secret
which you cannot confess.

The forbidden fruit
you must not taste,
yet you have sampled
all be it in stolen haste.

I am your temptation,
your sensual damnation,
and she, your redemption;
source of your adoration.

None the less, I still exist,
you will not relinquish
this prohibited dish,
your passions catalyst.

I create within your psyche
a world of vivid imagination,
far beyond the visual acuity
and mundane machinations.

A seed that quietly germinates,
its ravenous need you must satiate,
the greed that you cannot placate
ignites a fire you won’t exterminate.

I am every deprived of desire,
dressed in all manner of attire;
every fantasy you could sire
and openly could never acquire.

I am… the illicit attribute,
the muse that remains mute
yet ,my effect is very acute,
a pleasure you do not refute.

I now happily fade to black
a shadow in your minds back
aware of the societal caveat
I accept our ethereal format.
