Remember Where You're From

Remember me
Long after the scent has faded
Remember when the fibers of our clothes were laced with days and nights infused with drugs and drinks and cigarettes
Recall the smell that would travel to the places we departed
clothes tossed aside that carry the smell to each of our houses
slid out of and quickly forgotten
mere moments before collapsing from exhaustion
wasted by out exhilerated narcotic indulgences
a deep inhale could convince you- eyes closed tight enough-
that you were back in the action
even after your room is cleaned
your clothes cleaned
maybe even a few years down the road when you've
"cleaned up your act"
Remember the way we smelled

Remember the young eyes we saw the world through
When your perspectives begin to change
Remember the brilliance each morning held
For the children with eager eyes
Who saw no limits
Remember how many pairs of eyes we stared into
and saw reflections of ourselves
each of us was beautiful
each of us saw beauty in one another
Remember how we saw the world as ours

In the silence of a lonely night
Remember the melancholy choir of our voices
The drunk proclamations hollered at unholy hours
and the sudden bursts of sing-alongs when the perfect song came on
Remember each individual laughter
Casual conversation turned into intense physiological exploration
and comfortable silences spent together
Remember how many times we hear 'I love you'
both from drunk and sober mouths
but always spoke sincerely

Remember all the new tastes we've experienced
familiar with one or two flavours of lip-gloss
tasted through passed pipes and kisses
Remember the sting and mouth watering sensation
of the first hoot of the day
Remember the desperate search for chase as alcohol bit our tongues
and the inevitable chase of vomit the morning after
Remember what made us drool:cheap drugs, nice shoes, big bongs
Remember our taste for life

After we have parted ways
Remember how we felt about each other
Remember the dull constant aches of heart break
but remember the triumphant rush of finding soul mates
we felt that we were family and so became one
Remember the passion we felt for the brothers and sister
we met along the way
No matter where you go in life
Remember where you're from
