in news today another lost soul
took our hope and left a hole
a hole so deep it can't be filled
not after all the blood he spilled

then greed disguised as charity
set up shop to fill the need
fill the need of their own
collecting till their cover's blown

words of comfort turn to rage
fights emerge on who's to blame
blame the shooter or blame the gun
our world's become a setting sun

rich or poor and black or white
blue or red and left or right
