ridge'way

hot coffee warming cold hands
butterfly knives flitting and dancing through
summer skies
lit reddish golden with fading sunlight

some older souls continue to wander
along paths upon the ridge'way
acting out motions of a pilgrimage
followed

the stones at Avebury facinate many
entertaining us to hold open our selves
to reach out ready for journeys
north south east west

I wonder at the road flowing through this place
imagining the travellers of old
passing on
with a nod of the head to the circle

such old places
with many hidden away throughout our Islands
vital
like water springs, like rooks
