You Had Me At Hello (Pint-Sized Poem #34)

When I first met you, I wish I had said something.
But I just sat there and stared at you instead.
I didn't say anything because you were so different.
Than the usual people that speak to me.
You weren't putting me down.
Or making fun of me.
So I wish that I had said something witty.
Instead of just sitting there with a blank stare.
Too caught up my own sorrow and poetry.
To notice the sweet guy standing in front of me.
So I wish I had said anything.
Than there wouldn't have been pain.
And the tears and sorrows.
Than followed because I didn't ask your name.
And when we met again it would be on darker terms.
Me belonging to someone else.
But liking you all the same.
I wish I could play back to tears.
And the pain.
And I wish that I could go back to that day.
That we sat in the cafeteria.
And you talked me for the first time.
And instead of looking at you with my lack of trust.
I should have put my past feeling of other people aside.
Saw you for you.
And than instead of saying nothing.
I should've took the dive, into the unknown.
Because for some reason that I don't know.
You my dear, had me at hello.
