To Dennis the Poet - or Thirteen
I have never met you,
But I've heard your voice
With every message
Of your works;
And their raw truths you let
The world unmercifully
Judge and impune,
Easily affects me as if every
Word were a picture of
Your puzzle that I'll
Probably never finish.
Yes, your voice is defined
By its exploitations;
By me, a different shade than
others, a surreal level,
Which grants you
immortality as simply
As beauty.
I have never met you,
But your verse has
Found me listening
And ever will if it keeps
Existing.
But I've heard your voice
With every message
Of your works;
And their raw truths you let
The world unmercifully
Judge and impune,
Easily affects me as if every
Word were a picture of
Your puzzle that I'll
Probably never finish.
Yes, your voice is defined
By its exploitations;
By me, a different shade than
others, a surreal level,
Which grants you
immortality as simply
As beauty.
I have never met you,
But your verse has
Found me listening
And ever will if it keeps
Existing.
