Checkmate!
His mother lay motionlessly upon the cold, checkerboard kitchen floor,
like a solitary, broken chess piece. A queen no more!
Her still gaze fixed upon the
blinking florescent light.
As crimson puddles formed
on tiles of black & white.
Her body landed like a puppet
severed from it's strings.
She served and she protected too many treacherous, killing kings.
Her blue, breathless, gaping mouth cannot tell her tale.
Her paralysed, broken heart
built only to fail.
Daddy hangs in the basement
bloody fingerprints on his note.
An orphan boy sips his whisky
but it only burns his throat.
Daddy was a sore loser
that's why he plunged in the knife
Drunken and enraged
he checkmated his wife!
