Princess Feral.
Wet, warm, fertile, spring soil
cupped in my grubby, little hands,
As I inhale the earthy scent of lush, live woodlands.
Sunrays twinkling through the leafy trees and dancing on my bare back.
My secret little paradise
via my secret, hidden track.
Climbing twisted branches
trying to touch the fluffy sky.
All my tiny friends
can crawl, swim, dance or fly.
Dressed in daisy chains
muddy little face
a tom-boy princess
feral yet chaste.
A whirling dervish in the forest.
Flying through the air on a tree swing.
Crazy wild hair, joining the chorus as the birds sing.
Building wooden houses
my private dens
Capturing the beauty
before my beloved lense.
Following earthworms
chasing butterflys
singing sleeping baby birds
lullabys.
Feasting on blackberries
a black tongued, sticky fingered mess!
Wiping my mouth on leaves and hands on sundress.
Sticking my tongue out to taste
the cool spring rain
nettles sting but doc leaves cure the pain.
Catching ladybugs and money spiders with tiny tickling legs
Searching burrows, nests and webs.
Skinny dipping in the lake
my reflection looking up.
Beneath my chin turns yellow
just like the butter cup.
No people! just I queen of the jungle forevermore!
Protecting my territory
tooth and claw.
