Summer
Do you remember when it was you and me, and our imaginary friends?
Our lives were nothing but a walk in the park,
Although we didn't really know it back then.
God how I miss those days,
When our only worry was whether we were late getting home,
We didn't know about loss,
And we'd never known what it was to be alone.
Our days were spent in a glistening stream
Building a boat out of old rope, our hopes and our dreams.
And as the sun went down, we made a promise to do the same thing tomorrow.
We're best friends you'd say, and I'd say I know.
That was THE summer,
The one I always go back to when life isn't how I want it to be.
My happy place is when it was just you and me.
Its etched on my heart, permanently.
