I Wrote You Off

I wrote you a letter
on plain white paper
using my beast ink

I used words I had to
look up in the dictionary
hoping to impress you

I spoke of promises
and heart felt feelings
which I felt at the time

I told you I was sorry
and reread what I wrote
at least a hundred times

I lit it with a match
and watched  as it burned
in my best ash tray

I realized you didn’t deserve me
and I just wasted ink
and my best ash tray
