Quadrant

Winds from the north
I am blind and touching
only ugly people's faces

the kind of people
with tarnished copper hearts
and blood salty and warm as

you know

Winds from the west
I'm a cripple and a conjoined twin
we're wishing our pale and twisted legs
were anything like a newborn's

it was the ghosts that broke our bones
because they'll teach us that
life is long enough
to live with regrets

Winds from the south
we're all fucking vivacious
High on gasoline prices
and popsicle elation

this time I can drown myself
in Mr. Bubble and Dove
or maybe I'll just hang myself
so at least I'll die standing

Winds from the east
my lover, rejoice
it's all a pink film
with a cherry on top

it hurts because
my lucid lover tastes
like sweet liquor,
lick her lips

the winds from all four corners
embrace me, at first softly
welcome as the flame-hug to
my lungs of the vodka I had

till they crush and crunch
and I can thank the Gods
for all they have delivered
before I crumble into sapphire bone-dust
