Sorrows to the Rain

I whispered my sorrows to the rain
blended and mixed my tears
so no one would know of my pain.

I walked a mile oblivious as to where
just to keep moving…
just keep moving to no avail.

I could not outrun my hurt
or change my fate, no, I could not alter
the tragic events of this day.

I stopped and just stood there
letting the rain, my skin, permeate
hoping it would wash my sin away.

My love for you is prohibited
yet I love without regard
for the restriction.

I harbored this love, as long as I can recollect;
to be in your arms again was more
than I could refuse to accept.

So the grief I feel now is the punishment
I have to resign myself to,
for those stolen days together, we spent.

Defiantly I whisper to the rain
that I love you and will, always,
this feeling waited dormant too long
to just quietly die and fade away.
