BROKEN PROMISES

Huh.. what was that?
for a moment,
maybe a flicker,
or an echo perhaps?
i saw you, as you were

I hide in the darkness.
behind my eyelids
purposefully shutting out,
the view i thought
i saw of you.

not again, not again
fists in flight
this isn't right
don't call again
as you used to me.

As even though
i thought,this side had gone.
i was wrong,
i was wrong.

Inside my mind now,
my soul
buries deeper,
away from you

I know i'll never escape
the fury
you feel
i am due.

Never again now
will i be yours
no longer now
can i ignore
your flaws

Then one day
you're at my wake
as too far a step
you did take.

But now i'm free
of my fear of you
suffer always now
as YOU are due..
