If you took the time

If you took the time to listen,
you could hear whispers of help
not cries, no
never cries for help
If you took the time to see
the missing little pieces
in an otherwise giant puzzle
where you would not have noticed the empty spaces before
If you took the time to inhale
just one breath after the other
and stopped to smell the roses
every once in awhile
maybe you would realize
that people are dying
from hungry diseases
and the women in our society
don't know the feeling of innocence
If you took the time to help
the world might be a better place
the smoke from drugs could disappear
and we could breathe clean air again
If only the world hadn't turned a blind eye to us
then we wouldn't have to scream for you to listen.
If you listened to us before death took your love away
maybe, just maybe she'd still be alive.
If you took the time to feel our pain
if only for a moment
then none of us would have had to die.
