Like a Needle. Like a Nut.
Like a needle, he said;
The pain is in the first bite.
Short sting that never lasts.
Then, after penetration,
The healing, the pleasure,
Both in abundant measure.
Like a nut, he said;
What’s hidden inside
Is the sweetest!
What’s outside is pretty,
Lovely, behovely;
But what’s inside
Is the yummiest!
You understand?
Yes, I said. ‘Tis okay now.
But, Dad, added I,
Why, then, does mama often cry
When you do it with her?
The pain is in the first bite.
Short sting that never lasts.
Then, after penetration,
The healing, the pleasure,
Both in abundant measure.
Like a nut, he said;
What’s hidden inside
Is the sweetest!
What’s outside is pretty,
Lovely, behovely;
But what’s inside
Is the yummiest!
You understand?
Yes, I said. ‘Tis okay now.
But, Dad, added I,
Why, then, does mama often cry
When you do it with her?

? My assumption is that you have left this up to individual interpretation, each person will read/understand something different.Interesting...

They say that, in literature, what the audience usually interprets from an author's work most of the time he never intended. Anything can go, it is evinced by the work.

Very well written- that twist at the end was powerful, and extremely unexpected.

The title definitely caught my attention from the start, especially in the dark category. Cleverly done!:) xo

Experiments always taught me to never assume an outcome....I was left wondering from this wonderfully written imaginative dark poem. Excellent!

Cheeky...but it is the mind that corrupts the word and not the converse. Funny and enjoyable read.
