Thank You

Hey baby,
I know we never had a chance to talk; I never said
what I had to say.
I always thought it was my fault that you took your
love and went away.
Thinking back on all the sacrifices I made; working
hard to give you what you need.
I loved you with my greatest love but it seemed as
though you hated me.
Over the years I stuck around hoping that you’d
see I was the one for you. But no matter how hard
I tried you were always searching for somebody new.
The times were often that I’d wondered why you
never chose me; why my good you could not see?
I reasoned that I wasn’t pretty enough but baby
my beauty runs skin deep!
I tried to keep myself up, changing my hair, dressing
nice hoping you’d be proud of who you had.
Superficiality blinded you and angered me, almost
turning this good woman bad.
So many days I cried behind my pretty smile perpetrating
a love that was never there.
Today I glow with a healthy love and thanking God for
 an un-answered prayer.
I’m no longer angry by your rejection and your
inability to love me; only loving yourself.
I want to thank you for teaching me over the years
how to love somebody else.
