Passions Tamed

They say that “patience is passion tamed.”
And what if I do not
wish to be patient,
to have my passions
leashed or tamed?
I want to be myself,
loose my mane
and not be
judged or condemned.
Allow my passion
to have free reign,
to love fiercely
without shame or guilt.
Ah but polite society
has no room for my ilk,
it frowns upon women
who live this way.
We are given such
disparaging names,
licentious, lurid,
crude and brothel mavens.
It is no wonder
women’s passions feel stifled;
why we become
unfaithful, prudish
or view another woman
jealously as a rival.
I refuse to feel
inhibited and insecure
because wild abandon
must be restrained;
instead be my secret self, fiery,
wild and defiant
not mild or meek
but fierce, rough
not always delicate and sweet.
It would be like
unleashing an act nature,
once loosed there will be
no containing it later.
You must let it run its course,
die of its own accord
and when it settles down,
enjoy the after math and glow
till the next round.
