Gravitational Freedom

Why is it,
That with gravity
Comes the recognition of
Pain?

Was it the pull
That dominated the knowledge,
The attempts at defiance
That propagated definition?

Does correction,
Reflection,
Understanding -
Do they come
With ideas about it?

Do they know of the pieces
It longs to claim,
Observe in some far place of their existence
That the fall can lead only to break
That what rises will (must) also fall?

So then why do we stand
On the highest point
Tempt the repercussions
Of gravity’s laws?
Do we honestly believe that force of will
Will grant us wings to fly
If only we jump?

Trepidation is there
With a fluttering heart
Dread-filled chills,
Pleading with us to stop for a moment,
Consider all that could go wrong,
All that could shatter.

Who then is at fault,
For hesitation,
For consideration
Of actions carried out
In the vain hope of
A freedom not entirely ours?
