Emotional Independence
Between crisp linen crush and lip gloss smear
smudging your flesh where I left my burn
touch becomes discovery
illuminating skin my path
threading the fibers of soul
inches from glistening pinks
Finding more than art in abstract remains
your interests become mine
no emotional dependency
more a savoring
as the girl within
touches my core
long before
your lips and hands
caress my flesh
Standing amidst your nature
no eggshell path exists
actions and words conjoined
tattooed souls
merger complete
I slide beneath the moment
curling between the layers
where Our heart is
gentle intensity in the spaces
between catch of breath
push of time
and release of sigh
Deep of quiet
lips' tremble
shape of your mouth
sweetest flavor
intoxicating
fire
As starving sand that devours the sea
your heart beats against my thirsty skin
reconstructing angles
drowning in the depths of your blue

Re: Emotional Independence
I love your optimistic pieces,
a little light into my day.
As starving sand that devours the sea
your heart beats against my thirsty skin
reconstructing angles
drowning in the depths of your blue
Very well written, Soul Man.
An emotionally independent masterpiece.

This entire piece is beautiful and speaks to me deeply, especially the title. I think that one of the most important qualities to have in order to make a relationship work, is for both people to have emotional independence. With that said, wow at the rest...I can personally feel so many of these lines. You write so well and expressively. A lucky muse you have!

Glad you can understand how independence is a vital part of our identity. Loving and being loved should ENHANCE our soul, not harness or corral. I am the blessed one, as she is much more than a muse. The spark of bond is deep and grows as we share life beyond just words. Thank you, Rachel!!
