family secrets

Oh Faith {{hugs}}.  When dad passed, all I did was pray that no half-siblings appeared at the funeral.

I appreciate the hugs.  It was sad when I found out because I had always wanted a brother and no one knows where he is at.  My mother was afraid if she told me she had given her first born up for adoption I would think less of her.  

Thank you very much, Magdalena.  I always wanted a brother (there were seven girls in my family growing up).  Whenever I would mention wanting a brother to my mother she would say "You never know you may have one someday" knowing all along that she had given up her first born at my father's insistance.  I would later feel betrayed because of the lies I was told growing up.  I would love to find him one day though no one knows where he is.

Something about this struck a cord with me, I can remember the night when I was 13 and a major and fairly dark family secret was revealed.
Every family is a web of secrets, some are best left as they are.
I have never managed to write about my own family secret but I think that this is a great way for you to turn that experience into something creative and positive.

Thank you for your wonderful remarks. Yes, writing this poem helped me to come to terms with my feelings regarding this experience.  I never was really good at handling my negative emotions, other than being able to pour my heart out on paper.  

It goes to show that angst, pen and paper can create something good and tangible xx
