TO FAR TO FAST
I've forgotten where I'm going
I went to far to fast
I'm thinkin' that you're knowin'
I've glimpsed the end at last
You say to stop and smell the roses
Acknowledge what is real
Before the Grim Man comes along
Lookin' for a fate to seal

IS THIS A POEM?
If this is a poem
Then my son must be broke
All of our money
Must have gone up in smoke
But I'll let it slide
'Cause there's nothin I need
Hold on to the cash, son
So your cat you can feed
I don't ask if you love me
'Cause you tell me you do
"Mom's one of my heros"
"Yes son, I knew"
I would hold out my arms
Death not stand in my way
If it meant your existence
For one extra day
How much do I love you
No measure will do
Try to quantify Heaven
Still not equal to you
RIP

SOMEDAY YOU'LL GET A REAL PRESENT
One day I turned around
And I had three nieces
I couldn't be an owner
But there might be some leases
Almost every Christmas time
Another bill came due
I could never buy them presents
Nothing old, nothing new
And then somewhere, in some book
I read a line or two
About how presents didn't matter
Just a little love would do
I then decided that I'd triple
The amount of love I'd give
So the time I was your uncle
Would be longer than I'd live
And I had three nieces
I couldn't be an owner

which road will you take
Which road will you take?
Even when every possible road will ultimately lead to your demise
Even when after you're gone maybe not even the memory of your actions will exist
There are only two roads taken. One high, one low
It is easy to think your actions not consequential, without meaning
But everything you do adds to the energy quotient, good or bad
It has a profound effect on the balance of the system
And the system is the only constant, nothing else matters
Choose to take away from the system by your actions if you will
Or choose to add to the positive...
Even when every possible road will ultimately lead to your demise

START WITH A SMILE
Your purity amazes me
Your grace, your dignity
Always starting with a smile
Always up for the extra mile
Watching your path
As it finds center stream
Infusing good karma
In all it would seem
Starting each interaction
With kindness and care
As it washes right through them
Some are still unaware
They have been touched by a force
That added grace to their soul
Put a smile in their eyes
And made them more whole

I'M LOOKING
FOR WHAT EVERYBODY ELSE IS LOOKING FOR
AN OPPORTUNITY
TO BE DEVOTED TO SOMEONE
THROUGH THE CLOUDS
AND DRIZZLE
TOGETHER
REFLECTING ONE OF THE SCATTERED BEAMS OF LIGHT
THAT PIERCES THE DARKENED CANOPY
AT THE END OF THE STORM
TO LAY AMONG GERBERA
IN RED, LAVENDER, FUSCIA
AND OTHER COLORS, PAINTED
AN OPPORTUNITY
TO EVOKE NATURES INSPIRATION
SO RARELY MANIFESTED IN THE HUMAN FORM
AWARE OF THE DEVOTION
OF ANOTHER
JOYOUS
HAVING BEEN GIVEN
AN OPPORTUNITY

OLD MEMORIES OF YOU
Even the shortest days
Won’t pass by that quickly
Hanging, as if suspended
From silky spider’s threads
Of sticky steel
Old memories of you
Entangle themselves
In each days consciousness
Desire thick enough
To cause a headache
But I’ll deal with it
And attenuate
The pain I feel
Reducing the hurt
As best I can
Until I forget about you
Won’t pass by that quickly

Drag the oceans, break the reef
Gun down children by mistake
Sew destruction in our wake
