POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Curiosity killed the cat, but for a while I was a suspect- Steven Wright
Begging Beaivi
Summer Fay bid bye bedding down
dragonfly's sleep
under faerie, tail, wing
curling deep to hidden slumber
slipping adrift gossamers dreams
Winter sprites open eyes slowly
to beats of Druidic murmurings
slow steady rhythms that leave
Oak, Elm and Ash bide, bare brown
descent degrees, floated falling snowflake
Batter butter for Beiwe upon the post
ring round ribbons, roasting white tailed meat
bring back Mother Sun, sanity, safety for everyone
these screams we soon do lay, at Her feet on darkest day
as nighttime...

With the Senses
A collaboration by Grace and Soul
Soughing winds and crashing waves
through the windows blazing sunsets
reflections on glasses
hues of rainbows in rainy days
through that all I think of you
what sees you outside your window
Golden leaves
reds with purple, dancing
winds that build like engines
yelling through the holler
coloured trail held imagery
of us, sharing, laughter, love, mystery
Music from the distant mountains
Hollow reeds and bamboo sitar
Flute blown by bee-stung lips
That I hear with inner ears...

Another Walk
Sunlight kisses Autumn leaves
wrapping whipping fall air calls
chilling
to where each footstep crunches under
the howling holler of seasons empty
Blue sky breaks peek through
golden hued stalwarts
tempting the heart, pulling the mind
to that quiet corner
Inn
Holding all the warmth
as lights dance
colour shadows wave
a fire burns remembrance
yesterday tomorrow today
Let fall, pierced and starlight curtain
bring me not, light without Rose ascension
here
where I hear taste and smell
beauty that...

Baby, it's cold outside
Coals
deepened red
toast to time
this chilling hour
where watched clocks
freeze
as I scrape out powder
emptying ash
made in preparation
for cold hearted winter
Howling winds
scrape long nails
of trees barren.
The leaf of all gone
where insignificant
man
twiddles thumbs
balancing twigs
in tepee pyre
long hibernations, cries and coats
Coarse decoration
is in order
scratching at minds
huddled in corner
a long sigh
a drink of mimosa
then deep sleep, blankets and pillow ...

Light for Venus
Today opalescence opened eyes
crying life
within gasp
air of sea breeze grasp
tips
toes
blades of grass
Where thunder on the mountain
means wind in December
my Precious calendula prize
magic of the drifting mist
sailing mats
across beyond
blazing suns
Eyes upon leaves
fall
breath kept
for rainbow
there
where stars cross skies
skating the prism
lay
lush 'pon lilac way
candles kiss burns
the Princess wish
As a day is
life begins anew ...

Bessie
She told me Her name was Bess:
I caught Her first
in corners of my eye
with quick flash down the steps
to a star
like balls of light
till finally caught
resting
In Her wedding dress
It was then She spoke Her name
part of the country
happy in my home
She was waiting for Her Love
carried off
to civil war
with his picture in hand
she cries and moans
only thing of value
held close
upon rocking chair
tin-type and threadbare
when dripped my eyes
She shared Her way
to a world gone cold
...

Creek Street Runnings
Along the stage of creek street running's
dressed a man held warm by arms his lover
the knight rides cry cross Guinevere sighs
and too was seen the promise
Barb wire hooks try to grab with cross-eyed looks
shady day dealers pay, set up fence for the squealers
As Rollo dole Cole opens his hand for a five
they slap him back opening the sky
Wrapping their jackets
in leather soul patches
they stole a view
and flew and flew
flying into:
Winds blowing, away with loss and prison
their coasts,...

Drinking laudanum
with hints of clover
I stared into tin-cans
stringing a song
where the faintest of voices
whispered the word
~Jump~
This I swear
I heard
betwixt fiddle and verse
sending reaction
to a numbed
mumble of course
~Echoes~
Reverberate my mind
holding fast
the waves of time
splish-splashed
walking bay side
drowned in matters
~Bubbling
As I reach unto evening
sinking low
hand upon breast
beating
lacerated lashings whip
uncontrollably

On the water
Distance
the sky cries out
pouring over liquid thoughts
as beads form
settling
comfortably
on leaves
dripping only
to quench
what part of parched
dies
from thirst
Waves
form oceans of time
and riding the crest
in my memory
touches
soft
whet appetites
horizon lines
paddling on
this soul sacred surf
beating
back time
the sky cries out
pouring over liquid thoughts

Lighted paths
Spun
in a circle under noonday sun
yellow meadowlark cries
as I wander calling
tumbled in colour
red, orange, green and brown
softened by salient fall
Dilated eyes peek lovingly upon the Iris
light cascades layers to a long path
kissed edges, drift in ease
a boat sails, slick mirror canopy
Mother Nature sighs
content
as a slow passage curves and bends
There on finite distant greens
betwixt valley combs and cottontail
plush comfort folds deep into the bosom
while...

The Archaeologist
Quiet, the catacombs deep
posterity calls crumbling
as ancients left dreams
asleep
in piles of dust
entombed kings whisper no longer
sacred secrets of the shadow caster
covering ceilings to dark
while the light carried oil
pours smoke through the crevice
of yesterdays exit
holding fast
as he slips
further toward
a spiraling confusion
where words so loud repeat
dizzying
following footprints
in the sand
harsh cries of pressure, din
blow
swift
hauling him back home
to parchment, ink and pen...

Truth in Wishes
Stars twinkle at last light removal
covering day to its powdery dust
where the eyes see clearly
wishes of this world
strewn
to explosion covering us
There Ink and tear
poise unison
dripping wax sealing confession
as an act of contrition
holding in secret
sounds of the pumping heart
O dare do we say
each one spoken for
utter only
by the sound of a gurgle
reaching their comfort light
by a distant Dawn
Lines in the sand
etch deep
from glares of another
tying tongues...
