Missing You
Siphamandla Nkokheli Memela
I miss you with every ounce of my being.
From the trenches of my deepest footprints
To the reaches of my highest hair follicle.
I miss you in a childish way that with your presence
Ignites that which was once departed
But by you blossoms like the sun worshipers of the fields
That follow thier god like I do to you and teaches me how to smile
With that same radiance or like he with fortune found
Or she to him or it to that or or or or............
Aah the folly of youth, forever fixed on lost fortune and regret
Oh...

Meeting
She was quite excited to see me,
She screamed, She pointed
And even gave me a hug-
You see she was an old friend of mine
Who held me dear.
She was with some friends I never knew
That greeted me by name (they must've heard about me).
Curious onlookers observed the excitement,
As the security cam circled about
And caught my best side.
Soon we had a drink and caught up on many a childish tale.
Eager to be plucked her friends shared their bit
And soon names sprung casually,
Contacts grew and then bills where signed
For us to part and tell...

Composed On Nqobile's Hand
I can't ignore this knock no more
It's weary cry fills me deep,
Enticing my pulse with every tear
While it's gentle pang kills me dear.
And so I gasp to hold your hands
And so the knock takes new heights.
It churns my stomach it kills my speech
And with every blow growing nearer to each
It rapidly runs rigorously ranting and raving.
I fear like a child but stand like a man,
I grasp the knob with all my fears
And I summon a coy from yester years
"What badger lurks beyond this door?"
"Tis a guest my dear unknown...

Suicide
Last night I danced a mosquitos trumpet
Slapping myself to every beat
When it sat on my lap I thought I should smack it
With precision and speed I squashed it's meat
As it lay there dead I gayly cheered
But twas my blood that I had smeered.
Slapping myself to every beat
When it sat on my lap I thought I should smack it
With precision and speed I squashed it's meat
As it lay there dead I gayly cheered
But twas my blood that I had smeered.

How did it all happen?
For I am not he who is gently swayed
By seismic smiles, radiant eyes and hair-pin bends.
My serpent awakens and extends itself to your deepest heights...........and falls!
For I am not he who is gently swayed
By seismic smiles, radiant eyes and hair-pin bends.
My serpent awakens and extends itself to your deepest heights...........and falls!

Chronicles in Gambu Script
I stood forasaken as the winter took flight
With my hopes being my only warmth, consuming my entirety
Whilst drowning my joy and diluting my sight,
Exposing my verdancy
Compounded by my infancy.
Life beyond these walls shall expose me to nothing
From mortal hearts more privileaged than mine,
Mine lagooned by my purity, paying homage to all my something,
Repeated like a rhyme
And growing with time.
By candid rule plucked my hearts redemption by you
With faint drops on bottle lips but surely felt by your decree
And heard me pant despite...

To Catch a Love
Be gentle with your hand
Let her come as she may
Put best foot forth and sell your brand
Tax her less and with her heart she’ll pay.
Utter promises with your lips
But lace them truth and you give them weight
And of your love let tongue to rip
What poetics sounds, you have cheated fate.
Such forward beauty lay ere your eyes
You gaze each sphere and sculpt it quick.
The treachery of a smile and the stamina of time
Hath sculpt thee quite but beauty lay wick.
Let loose the rhythm of the heart
And her myriad laborers that each...

Unburdened
Scarce as desert rain
Dear as first love
Though you not my first I shall maintain
You are loved and on you I place none above
When yesterday we hugged
Yet today your presence remains
Reviving the love that others shrugged-
My solace devouring my pains.
What pleasures by day that taunt me
Are known to me by night
Though dreams are dreams thou art still deity
To dream or wake is now my plight
What my heart devours my lips must say
Before my time is stole by death
That if man needs air to live a day
Then you’re my air,...
Dear as first love
Though you not my first I shall maintain
You are loved and on you I place none above
When yesterday we hugged
Yet today your presence remains
Reviving the love that others shrugged-
My solace devouring my pains.

Upon Loves Breast
O how you charm me with the little you do,
Take me once more O love of mine O dearly beloved.
Never had I felt a touch so true
Who’s mellow stroke from its place my heart moved.
With lips that sow kisses and reap delight,
Who’s sweet soliloquy is heard in thunder.
And as I gaze upon her, O blessed be thy sight
And get raptures inside leaving me in awe and wonder
And the little sense these wonders keep making
Is all the sense I need to sensibly love thee.
When you are near my soul starts waking
And when were entwined is lost to thee.
You who...

Scenic Routes
Let me the scenic route,
Where I’ll so haply take the off-ramp and stroll the dusty roads
That with her labored hands
Grips me to her hips, were to her heights I am weaned
And her depths I am taught.
Alas my feet have a canvas, my bristles do tame this medium.
The yearning heart, her wailing lips,
Are deemed not in vain
When echoed by her summits that with piercing needles
Thread each yarn of sky so well that when it rains
Her colours not fade nor each thread run.
That enduring pulse that so nearly clots my veins,
When unto the rivers tides...
Where I’ll so haply take the off-ramp and stroll the dusty roads
That with her labored hands
Grips me to her hips, were to her heights I am weaned
And her depths I am taught.

In Jest
Mortality weeps!
My dark cloud condenses
Onto casual ears, and thoughts fragmented
By aristocratic definitude that threatens my
State of being and has me pour
To a sieve that will not filter.
Like an isthmus of poised continents
Stained by shona wars that clot her rivers,
That will not carry me, lets sorghum
Wilt by an orbited sun
That’s cooled by an ever gaping west,
Survived by yes-men content with mere existence,
It will not synthesize and leaves me sober.
Mine is but a trickle to a quenched plain-
Seeping...
