The Surface
cut beneath the surface
maybe you'll find
someone like you
just beneath the surface
you found what you weren't expecting
seeing the pain
and seeing the damage
your tears start to fall
touching my wounds
breaking down my walls
i crumble into pieces
melting in your arms
trying to collect
remains of my shattered life

Invisible and Strange
i'm drowning
swimming away
and i'm sinking
trying to fight
but the tide is too strong
it pulls me out to sea
i'm trying to get rid of me
i'm burning
faking smiles
i'm tired
of watching your happiness
open in front of my eyes
your laughter is fading
finally you notice me
alone in the corner
bleeding from my arms
blood roses fall from my wrist
i'm begging for reason
wanting love
to afraid to keep it
knowing i'll lose it
that's not a secret
i've always been invisible
how can you see me
are...

when will I see you again?
Your birthday's almost here
Halloween is closing in,
our favorite holiday.
You won't be here for Christmas
or Thanksgiving, and that upsets me.
You're my brother and best friend.
I've known you for what seems like forever,
and I love you.
I have always loved you.
I am ready for you to come home.
You are an amazing soldier
and an outstanding friend.
I love you, goofball!

a surfer's lullaby
high is the sun
as waves swell
along the shore
rolls in the tide
she walks confident and strong
board in hand
the breeze kissing her face
the taste of salt on her lips
and the sand between her toes
she rides the waves
and wows the crowd
the sun bronzing her over
she sings a siren's song

clouds of war
unclear
like static on a television
so the world is enveloped
in chaos and turmoil
ribbons of violence
streaming from the media
rivers drip from the sky
as drops of acid fall
kissing my skin
burning through my flesh
as the rain pounds the ground
like a hammer on an anvil
the thunder roars like a lion
ringing my ears
the lightning flashes
like strobe lights
across the sky
blinding me
the clouds roll
gray and black
war has been declared
this was inspired by "city" by hollywood undead.

such sweet beauty
her hazel eyes that sparkle so bright
her blonde hair that glows in the night
radiant smile that sparkles so white
her admirable beauty even in the lowest of light
her name, such a sweet song
even though I have not known her long
her hand in mine, such sweet bliss
her pink lips I long to kiss
she sneaks her way into my dreams
and stitches love in my soul at the seams
the question of will she be with me
the constant wonder of can we be
I look into her eyes and all I see
is a beautiful girl looking back at me

purgatory heart
my heart and soul was laid out for your taking
you took it and you took advantage of them
you broke me down and tore me apart
ripped my soul and burned my heart
my jealousy for your happiness flaunting in my face
brings me to question what did I do wrong
I see your face everywhere I look
wanting to scream I find no voice
my feelings have no words there is no song
for my pain there is no release
I feel as if I'm in purgatory
the etchings on the wall will never fade
the brokenness you caused can't be erased
the bullets in my heart and head...

these things are unsaid
spoken by heart and not mind
as the flame of a candle flickers
the cross stands alone
solitary before me
a silent prayer
longing for love
a plea for salvation
seeking long needed forgiveness
questions needing answers
those answers requiring guidance
as the candle is blown out
my prayer is complete
the cross shines in the darkness
the beacon of hope

prom is over, graduation gone
high school is over and college is here
community for two years
and transfer as long as it takes
but my secret ambition
would hurt them all
they say they will support me
in everything I do or choose
but will they really (?)
they support everyone else
who make this same choice
why can't they support me too (?)

bad dream
locks on the door so hard to manipulate
clawing at the walls trying to escape my fate
your evil laughter right behind me
brings me back to reality
you pull me back into the darkness
on my throat I feel the knife and its sharpness
there's no windows and no light
you're the only thing in my eyesight
the shadow of you holding a hatchet
I run through the door and quickly latch it
I awake to see you standing in the door with a knife
screaming swears of taking my life
but I am awake or so I think
I wake for real and I quickly blink
you're not...

life, a paradox
your perfect life is a paradox
you breathe to live another day
bruises hide behind clothing
cuts hide behind long sleeves and bracelets
your smiles and silver linings are facades
the vanguard of hope you hold is demolishing itself
those suicidal thoughts that constantly consume
are shown in your self-abusive actions
ribs are seen and eyes are sunken
your self-destructive ways are your downfall
smiling your best, you can't fool the world forever
you breathe to live another day
