Drakken Rising
You think you do
but you don’t
know me that is
the sunny face
outwardly shown
masks the clouds within
anger jealousy violence
writhe like demon spawn
in my soul
Before I learned to hide
to force the darkness to sleep
I would have ripped your throat
out with my teeth
savoring the blood
and fear infused
for what you seek to do
what is mine is mine
make no mistake
To try and take
what I have claimed
would be the gravest ever made
you will not survive
an encounter with that
which lies...
but you don’t
know me that is

the exasperated look
on your face
when I hugged you
goodbye
sealed your fate
affectionate is my nature
and yet
for your sake
I have reined it in
time and time again
you are the one
with the problem
not me
illustrative of myriad reasons
why we can never be lovers
maybe not even friends
our relationship
always on your terms
must stop
I shall seek elsewhere
for what I want
someone who embraces me
with all
the love in their heart
enthusiastically
not as an obligation
My worth is priceless...
on your face
when I hugged you

Maybe
maybe today
it will happen
you will come over
gaze into my eyes
and realize
that there is nothing wrong
with your feelings
maybe absence
led to introspection
you missed my smile
laughter and quirks
and never
want to be without them
in your life
maybe love
will triumph
like in the stories
that are spun about
and cherished
by dreamers like me
who still believe
maybe truth
will finally make
an appearance
between us
and you

loneliness feels like
the only consistency
in my life
not that I am not
an independent person
often preferring to be alone
with my thoughts

murmurings around the edges
of consciousness
tendrils wending
twining magic about
receptive spirits
restlessness encouraged

enticing danger

confusion
where are we
carnival ride from hell
spinning endlessly
in space
no forward movement
stagnation
starts and stops
just when I think
progress has been made
towards resolution in
our ship
dead in the water
arrested
by the obstinance

have in abundance

and dialed
at the sound of your voice
joy bubbled
up from deep within
transforming despair
into a new beginning
cautious optimism
leapt up
before an insidious little
whisper
reminded of what
had gone before
to be or not to be
is indeed the question
carpe diem
gather ye rosebuds
and all that
do not dwell in the past
make the most
of opportunities and
potential
second chances
