POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Valerie
told me you'd be with your girl today:
the one you run to
when you need to be loose
of the confines, the monotone
of us
the lady in red gloss
an insatiable roar climbing her chest
when you lay into her
the way she deserves
she was made for it:
your guiding her curves
between open wings of sand
straddling black -
the tarmac
ride her to exhaustion
clench teeth and hold on for the screams
with a bourbon on the side
and if you spot a glimpse, a glimmer
a gleam on the...

However we define the madness
It's freezing out here, though wind's best for drying on days
like this, where sun is snug deep behind fort walls of cloud.
My fingers ache from this cold and damp.
They slow as if they're hypothermic, and all my blue pegs
keep breaking. Only blue, I don't know why. My murder
of crows is back as well. They circle and caw every time I step out--
maybe they're trying to tell me something.
Goddammit, these blue pegs are useless.

Communication is so last season
no, I won't talk to you
I won't look at you but for when
you're talking to me
because I know
I'll slip
and you'll catch me like you always do
and I'll lose
again
when there's so much to keep my eyes on
so no
I won't talk to you
and I won't watch you
as you play and smirk
reveling in who you are
and all you are to her
and him
and them
and I don't care that you only check me
in your periphery

On camping in the wilderness
I can hear the little girls outside playing house
complete with the plastic jewel draped drama
of fainting onto an unsuspecting Ken
which inevitably leads to mournful death
just when the babydoll birthrate is at its peak
and the always imminent danger
of lava-dwelling crocodiles
is even more imminent
than usual.
I sigh.

Decisions of a housetrained poet
They should take their places, thrash us with their rapier pens
those cudgels
that render, with surprising accuracy
the slices
that have power to rearrange us
We could use a good 'what for'
for inanity
and our relentless
barrages
of some chaotic flutter effect
where we become obtrusions on the serenity
of honesty
free breathing and burn-writing
and clear vision;
which is almost as irritating
as your golden voice having to trip over weird structure

Getting up
I have every intention
of changing your mind
your views of us
and where we are
only when the wind blows
are changes shown
and only when the wind blows
are they tested
made, or broken
Baby, the wind
blows on tonight
and you and I never see
the sun
as much
as I know we will
but I'll stand
for you
I'll wait for you
as long
as the wind blows
and you know
it'll open up the sky
don't worry, Baby
We'll see the sun again
of changing your mind
your views of us
and where we are
only when the wind blows
are changes shown
and only when the wind blows
are they tested
made, or broken

Conception of a black hole
We, delicate products, like waterlogged pages
where faded words still clutch tight an empty stomach
flashing us their wing-clipped pages
we always find we crave the pages
Uncertainty carries off its weight in flesh
and buries its fangs even into resemblance
as paranoia breeds a thrill in pain; in memory
in fabrication, adrenaline building a pin-drop addiction
branding every silent gist to memory -
we relish and curse our memory
where faded words still clutch tight an empty stomach
flashing us their wing-clipped pages
we always find we crave the pages
Uncertainty carries off its weight in flesh
and buries its fangs even into resemblance
as paranoia breeds a thrill in pain; in memory
in fabrication, adrenaline building a pin-drop addiction

Sized-To-Fit (A Crude Satire)
He has a great big cock
and that makes all the difference to me
because every woman knows
(though she mightn't say)
that size is the key to ecstasy
especially after five kids
all birthed vaginally.
My Kegels work like spells on men
but hey, call me lazy.
I just need a thick one to ravage me.
We met by chance.
Had all the 'vim and vigour' in our romance
though dance of words and glance
were sorely missed. I tried one-sidedly
to brighten the trysts
with improper remarks and witty quips, ...

I'll be fine once the tune fades
This gold ain't goin' down easy
rough like burn and scrape down my throat
but I'll take it to feel that sway
under quiet stars tonight.
Didn't know it could take me
but it's got me fair
only another fiberglass pony
rusted off the carousel
but the music was so fine --
and I could drop it
so easy
if a hush would silence the songs.
No, I ain't takin' this stride so easy
feet tripping, catching and kicking at
every dip in the road
but I'm good
once the whistle
wears off ...

Puerto Vallarta sounds nice...
Life's little mistakes"
That's what she called them
"If you ever get the chance
to get away and make some"
she said
she knows me better than most
and she gets more of my respect
than most
I had to triple check
my moral code after that
and I think
I may book myself a vacation

a musing on psychology and grapefruit
when extremely stressed,
some may often feel the urge to clean something--
give themselves something constructive to do while
they vent out loud to themselves
as if they were someone else.
they may come to the conclusion
that it creates an illusion of something being
accomplished;
something
coming to order in their messy life.
and they may or may not have become quite attached to the smell
of this grapefruit scented
all-purpose cleaner.
