SELF POEM

Expectations
You know what my problem is?
I don't have enough time to make everyone happy
Give me two more days a week
Maybe I can fit all these demands
liquidizing to pay expenses?
I don't even know what that means
But I promise you I am killing myself
trying to make it all O.K.
without knowing exactly how I do that
I got almost all the expenses taken away
Didn't I?
And I know I spend money on groceries
But I'll stop I swear
I'll eat nothing but carrots and air
Because this knot of stress in my stomach
fills me so much more than food can...

The Mirror
Every morning, I look in the mirror
To see 10 variations
Of the word ugly
I squeeze the fat around my stomach
Run my hands in claws
Down the red marks on my face
Down the tangled mess on my head
Combining into a result
That will never be what
a California blonde girl
Is supposed to look like
In this mirror,
All I see are imperfections
Insults springing like habits
To my mind
Before I can even
Drink my morning coffee
And comprehend a simple conversation
I am able to hate myself
And this hate is not an obligation...
To see 10 variations

Octopus Garden
I crave an octopus garden
Strawberry delight in
Adolescent cravings under
The first clumsy hand job
The first time you lied
With an “I love you”
And now I lie to society
Like the rest of us
The final fall of innocence
Santa Clause came at eleven
And fairy tale love soon after
What do you have left to believe in?

With vodka

LOVE POEM

Second Time Around
When I had my first love
I dreamed up our future within two weeks
Married with two kids by 25
We would live together and live
off love and hugs
beneath e.t. tress
and he would eventually love me
even as he told me I was on
the
path
to
HELL.
Because love solves
But then love leaves
I didn't know that was possible
That one day you can hold his hand
and the next you can't
and you grow cynical
touch loses meaning
the big V becomes a piece of trash
you throw at random...

Strange green slime cures cancer
floating molecules now exist on Mars
did you know sea monkeys
are the smartest on earth?
running microscopic test labs
from the DNA left on
our fingers as we feed them
better than the silly
humans looking for answers
without asking any question
step 1/4: boy finds happiness
in arms of sex robot
women deemed no longer necessary
to be submitted to reproductive
labs immediately
without men we do not exist
is that true
assumptions built on the necessity
of wedding rings found
in sea...

"The sky is falling"
As I crashed to Earth

I would rather be an office worker
9-5 grind
if I could only be within your frames

Innocente
Playing house on the second floor
screams when the lights turn off
little girls grab dolls and run
searching for mommy
not realizing that this is life
welcome to our game of house
sorry the lights turned off
it was electricity or food
we have no mommy to help
when we scream silently
instead we drink the darkness
as it covers us in waterfalls
truth and evil grinding together
like our bodies

Getting high in bathrooms
used to be cool
holding the joint
Lana del Ray style
as he blew smoke circles
and I played my own
Tragedy
So dramatic and glamorous
to my stoned eyes
blowing at my reflection
Recollection taints this cool
cool loses its definition
when you remember the numbness
the self-hate
consideration of sleeping pills
as an option to end the way
he looked at you
the way that "he" meant every man
because you belonged to all of them
and none of them
never deciding which it was
was it...
used to be cool

Cherry Chap Stick searching for love
Seeks long walks in desert
Long cracks in lipstick stains
Sad girls needing an action for the mirror
Anything to make us feel needed
Fake reassurance as the seal goes on
Dried out in an hour to be
Reapplied
Again and again
The definition of insanity
Is to repeat the same motion
Over and over again

If you are my Chap stick
Then baby
I’m insane.

I am not your puppet
not your blank-eyed doll
you may not cuff my hands in string
to play your perfect girl
you tell me "sit and be pretty"

It Hurts
i][i]It hurts to be wrong
the villain of the story
alone, completely desolate
in a valley of human beings
It hurts to fear the outside
looking for the cold brown eyes
uncaring kiss goodbye
by the boy you’ve always loved
That word he uses, easy
it’s undeniable, too true
your legs blossomed open to his fingers
Just like he knew you would
Just like you always do
It hurts to see the ghosts
the one soul you could spend eternity with
to enter an empty room
missing the dirty plates she never took to the kitchen
seeing the blurry...
