POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
The whispered wind played merry with the leaves of trees Said one unto the other, it is the leaves that move The other seeing different declared it was in fact the breeze A third whose view did vary more affirmed for all it is the mind that moves
POSEIDON'S GIRL (Part One)
This gift of God’s, Poseidon’s girl
A mermaid to the oceans born
Silken tresses, salt clean skin
She navigates with sea green eyes
Moonlight secrets chained within
Such sorrows known of ages gone
Not a life she chose, Poseidon’s girl
The Mariner a smuggler he
His sailboat built to race the tides
Golden rings, pistols faithful at his side
Leather boots surround his knee
A careless wind about his hair
His rudder guided by the stars
Free of fear he crests the waves
And once his night of business done ...

No mind those people
Shafted hard by priest or steeple
Voices thick with gusto preach
Each smile the beckoning of a fix
Ambiguous pulpit pumped up hard
Never mind the lives they took the lies they spun
And how their god forgot those people
Shafted hard by priest or steeple

Dark drapes your doorway
Complicit with treasons
All strangely attractive
And giddy with reasons
Encryptions unfold as fusions erupt
You know you know different
… Rise up
This chill in the air
Finds holes in your clothes
Fair kisses your skin with
Calling card shivers and absolute sins
Without cutlass or compass
Or apostles in bottles
… Rise up
The moon holds a lantern of
Seductive allure
Time’s promises cling
Like glue to your skin
Oh weavers of dreams
Come...

BEYOND
Beyond the playing fields of innocence
A cosmos of distractions
And coal black steeds to ride from star to star
All arrows launched in drunken night
There to peel away the morning light
Collecting articles of faith
The sieve that sifts the diamond in the rough
From ten a penny holy stones

PARALLELS
Quite by accident when sweet lips combined
He tasted like a highwayman
And she as a goddess
Cause and effect, a beginning of which
Constellations spin and fables are made
The un-headed heart condones to conceive
Having healed its wounds it opens again
Yearning for light through its prison cell walls
Just wishing to dance once again on the sand
To the coils and rhythm of two minds combined
And there in the morning that followed the stars
Ingested and warm
Like the stamen behoves the sting of its lover
It wishes...

EPIPHANY BENDER
Epiphany Bender
Queen of the Hustings
Expressive hands and winning smile
Faultless, fluent in debate, she talks of new beginnings
Making bubbles out of words and how they rise and grab the eye
Knowing what the country wants
She needs our hearts, she wants our faith
Epiphany lives the visual age and works it well
Ubiquitous on TV screens, pursued by fashion magazines
All join a queue, she likes things ordered and arranged just so
Her twitter army march to fuel her dreams
Upstanding, outstanding
She’s out to...

PICK A NUMBER
PICK A NUMBER
Pick a number
1 in 100
Plus or minus, give or take
That ever inner trinity
A ring fenced world
Of different wiring in the head
Spectrums, variations on a theme
All finger prints unique, they tag along
Not left behind or dulled with age
No cure or medication plots the points
That measure on some messy graph
Where different is some difference unexplained
Suffice to say we one percent don’t know
All the workings of your world
But then again you might just guess
1 in 100 give or take
And all a...

GHOSTS (PART 6)
GHOSTS (Part 6)
To mark his friendship and in honor of his leaving
Great force of fire roared within the Banquet Hall
On spits and poles the fat of meat did hiss and boil
As silhouettes of merriment, imbibed capacities,
All diminished faculties in shadows danced upon the walls
And of his plans, his journey thus far in
He walked beyond the candle light
The coolness of the evening air he needed on his face
A voice behind him now; they say you seek a wife she said
He needed not to turn to know
Elizabeth of flaxen hair, the eldest...

GHOSTS (Part 3)
GHOSTS (Part 3)
Upon the seasons turn a year had passed
And all these places, meadow land, the oaken vales
As far as eye could see and more beyond where all was his
With winter ruination now long gone
The farming strips stood thick and tall with crops
When time allowed he often walked the woods
For there in peace of feeling that this place of nature understood
How for every gain of mood a time was drawing near
This day he stood and swiped his knuckles hard against rough bark
His lifted fist to mouth he raised and licked the oozing blood...

Ordinary Magic
Ordinary Magic
Through a weeping willows tendril arms
A sliding sun in melon hue ignites the edges of the clouds
And spreads its color on the sky
To know those things which orchestrate and capture so?
Two lovers on a swing seat entwined of hands and eyes
In thoughts that flush from ripples rise the waves
The irresistible and the wonderful,
Of sine qua non, for all in faith unfolds
And there inside a single cell divides
Umbilically enshrined within its watery world,
A blink, a smile a kicking toe and finally a birth ...

Fire Cat
Fire Cat
In legend she was absolute, for she it was, this undisputed forest queen, this Fire Cat
Larger than a Tiger, imbued with stealth and grace itself that walked on air, faster on the earth than any man and eyes that came alive with fire
Man the hunter, he of barrel chested pride and though many came to boast their skills, most returned with failures face.
Beaten by the forest, claiming never to have seen the beast
A few were never seen again, little mercy in this forest for the unprepared
Poison in beguiling fruit, the Brown...

A Handful of Dirt (Rewrite)
Lichen flecked Churches
Sire of long dead saints
Where cold stone crosses lean
With feet of tangled grass
As ring-a-ring-a-roses
Stone cottages hold hands
Within the bent earth driven fence
This inner harbour safe for souls
Yet some deluded by false baubles
With venal admirations hollow eyes
Drawn beyond the ramparts of their faith
Do take a step beyond
That path of sun swept away by silver moon or stygian black
It keeps no light but natures own
For nothing pure or gentle
Ever served that wind torn place
Beyond the...
