POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
If not to fight against the monsters inside us, why do we write?
What is left
A cloudy sky is all I have now,
and I have a cold, my voice is hoarse.
I don't drink enough..well I do,
but only the wrong drinks.
And I started smoking again...
bad habits die hard, you know.
And I'm still painting drawings of you,
but no one sits on that chair anymore.
And when the lights are out,
I feel insecure, I don't sleep well.
Only my pillow as company.
All the time this sad melody is playing,
and the raindrops are falling down,
to my face..or from it?
The flowers wither
but I just can't throw them away
they...
and I have a cold, my voice is hoarse.
I don't drink enough..well I do,
but only the wrong drinks.
And I started smoking again...
bad habits die hard, you know.
And I'm still painting drawings of you,
but no one sits on that chair anymore.
And when the lights are out,
I feel insecure, I don't sleep well.
Only my pillow as company.
All the time this sad melody is playing,
and the raindrops are falling down,

When you took leave
The goals we set are shallow
and yet we think them deep.
The bitterness to swallow
once tasted oh so sweet.
As times do change,
our values do,
your leave will break
my heart in two.
A heart that's made of steel
will neither break nor crumble,
but all this love I feel
will surely make me tumble.
As sweet and yet as cold as ice,
your voice when you took leave,
there was no more love in your eyes
your heart I’d never reach.
and yet we think them deep.
The bitterness to swallow
once tasted oh so sweet.
As times do change,
our values do,
your leave will break
my heart in two.
A heart that's made of steel
will neither break nor crumble,
but all this love I feel
will surely make me tumble.
As sweet and yet as cold as ice,
your voice when you took leave,
there was no more love in your eyes
your heart I’d never reach.

On the veranda
Long ago I had a purpose,
now I’m sitting here all alone,
no one there to talk to me no more.
Drinking beer I’m growing older,
the climate changed, it’s getting colder,
all around me people who don’t care.
Don’t you dare to come to me,
why are you here, what do you see
in this country that is soon no more?
Stay away, I don’t like you,
you have no right to be alive, you
stay away, I don’t care.
“Your world is nothing more, than all the tiny things you’ve left behind.”
now I’m sitting here all alone,
no one there to talk to me no more.
Drinking beer I’m growing older,
the climate changed, it’s getting colder,
all around me people who don’t care.
Don’t you dare to come to me,
why are you here, what do you see
in this country that is soon no more?
Stay away, I don’t like you,
you have no right to be alive, you
stay away, I don’t care.
“Your world is nothing more, than all the tiny things you’ve left behind.”

When I see your face
And when I see your face…
And when I see your face,
I cry.
And when I see your tears
I know that they will never dry.
I know all your fears
and I can hear your silent cry.
Cause after all these years
to meet you I must surely die.
I’m grieving for you dear
and always only wonder why.
It’s time for leaving here.
It’s time to say goodbye…
And when I see your face,
I cry.
And when I see your tears
I know that they will never dry.
I know all your fears
and I can hear your silent cry.
Cause after all these years
to meet you I must surely die.
I’m grieving for you dear
and always only wonder why.
It’s time for leaving here.
It’s time to say goodbye…

too weak
Too strong to die,
yet he couldn't take the pain.
He stayed alive,
but he drove himself insane.
The mirrors broken,
his flesh was dripping blood,
his thoughts were rotten
and his hands were full of mud.
He really dug his own grave,
with cigarettes and drugs.
The alcohol, his best friend,
circulated in his blood.
The bottle never left him,
his sanity went astray,
he shouted at the trash bin,
he threw his life away.
And as his last breath left him,
he had nothing more to give,
he realized his death was...
yet he couldn't take the pain.
He stayed alive,

two glasses of wine
Two glasses of wine on the table,
yet one of the seats is cold.
The clock is ticking away his time,
and he keeps growing old.
Framed pictures show scenes of the past,
they hang on the old yellow wall,
his cigarette is burning out,
and he has stopped sitting tall.
Two glasses of wine now are empty,
yet both of the places are cold.
A rope hanging next to the frames,
without her, he couldn’t grow old.
yet one of the seats is cold.
The clock is ticking away his time,
and he keeps growing old.

Her valentine
Next to the lake she sits and she ponders
Snow is piling up on thin ice
It gets so easily broken, she wonders
Crushing the surface, she sits there and cries

Crushing the surface, she sits there and cries

Carrots
The carrots are growing so fast,
they never grew this fast
especially not in the past year and a half.
Our garden is becoming less and lesser,
I only need one watering can each day.
But the work is still so hard on my back.
No one comes visiting anymore,
so I can spend more time in our garden.
It's not that I hate it, but its lonely.
I started talking to the pumpkins,
they always listen, but they don't understand.
They only ripen and when it's fall, I reap.
I wonder if the carrots would see spring again,
but I honestly...

When I lost you
I was lost,
but you found me.
Every time.
But today,
I lost you.
Tears are falling,
I sit on the couch,
where we always sat
together.
We pictured our future.
I hold a framed picture,
we look so happy.
But now,
your face fades away
as time takes its toll.
but you found me.
Every time.
But today,
I lost you.
Tears are falling,
I sit on the couch,
where we always sat
together.
We pictured our future.
I hold a framed picture,
we look so happy.
But now,
your face fades away
as time takes its toll.

In times of war
A hooded figure in the night,
walking trough the streets so quiet,
a little baby in her arm,
she keeps it close, she keeps it warm.
Through haze and war and bullet rain,
she makes her way past those in pain
who fight to see a better day,
but die when they are on their way.
A silent whisper can be heard,
trough all the noises and the words
spell out a song directed to the heart,
the pain of being torn apart.
The bullets sink into the flesh,
in two days nothing will be left but ash,
but she wants the future not...
walking trough the streets so quiet,
a little baby in her arm,
she keeps it close, she keeps it warm.
Through haze and war and bullet rain,
she makes her way past those in pain
who fight to see a better day,
but die when they are on their way.

after you left
I sit alone on my bed.
Deep in thought,
remember all those times
we had.
And I hold your shirt,
it smells like you,
press it in my face.
Why does it still hurt?
"Go!
Go!
Go! Go!! Go!!!"
I screamed at you.
"Go away!"
I begged you
and I cried.
You told me
oh so many lies.
And yet I held you dear,
were close to you,
I simply couldn't bear
the thought of losing you.
But now I'm sitting here alone,
all I can do is to atone,
to seek forgiveness in your smile,...
Deep in thought,
remember all those times
we had.
And I hold your shirt,
it smells like you,
press it in my face.
Why does it still hurt?
"Go!
Go!
Go! Go!! Go!!!"

It's eating you away
It's eating you away.
You know those times we spent
when we were young?
I remember what you said.
You told me I looked good in black.
Now I'm wearing black again
and all those tears, they won't stop flowing.
And all those memories,
they keep on showing.
So frail, so small, but oh so sweet,
the bond we shared, it runs so deep.
But time has severed, worn it out.
Desperately I cling to it.
It's eating you away from me.
