I have been writing for 6 years-mostly poems and short stories-and I find it a helpful escape from reality. Being angered by extremely angst filled poems, I try to lean away from them; I do write one time to time. Hope you enjoy!

Simple Steps For Self Destruction
The worst thing you can do to yourself,
Is to tell yourself that you don't matter.
After that, it is a long, winding, downward spiral.
Just look at me.
When I was young I convinced myself that
I was lesser than those around me and that
They, by far, surpassed me in every way.
Now look at me.
I can't love myself because I hate everything
I do to the point where I feel very guilty,
Just for being alive.
Please don't be like me.
Know that you do matter and every feeling
You have is valid and every thought you...

At This Moment
Things change.
That is the inevitable truth.
Maybe one day I will say goodbye to you.
I may learn to hate your laugh,
Despise your eyes,
And distance myself.
Something may happen where we part,
But really, who is to say.
What matters is the present.
Right now I will always say I love you.
I am absolutely crazy about your laugh,
And intrigued by your eyes,
And no matter what, I can't keep myself away from you.
Right now is all I need.
That is the inevitable truth.

Reality
Sometimes I get out of touch.
My realities aren't constant.
They change day to day
Week to week
Year to year.
Yesterday I felt loved
I felt at peace
and fine.
Today I feel betrayed,
I feel overwhelmed,
and alone.
Last week I felt fresh,
I felt powerful,
and capable.
This week I feel worthless,
I feel selfish
and naive.
Last year I felt confident,
I felt outgoing,
and bright.

Who is to blame
Everyone blames society.
"Society made me depressed."
"Society made me anorexic."
"society made me self harm."
I hear constant blames and cries of,
"Society made me hate myself"
And
"Society made a monster out of me".
Maybe this makes the ever growing
Number of people who claim to
Hate themselves feel like they have
Something to relate to.
Since society is enemy number one,
There is something they can blame.
It is an excuse for their thoughts
And a beast to fight...

The things I lack
Some consider beauty superficial;
Blue eyes, blonde hair, small waist.
We strive to obtain the average idea of perfection;
Big bust, full lips, long legs.
Others consider confidence the key to beauty;
Love yourself and you will glow.
For them, it doesn't matter what you look like;
If you love yourself, others will too.
People tend to lean to one side.
Some desire happiness on the outside,
While others learn to have it on the inside.
One would be lucky to have both.
But you see with me,
There is one small problem. ...

As Long As I Am The Only One
I don't care that your lips are dry and cracked
From the cold winter winds,
As long as I am the only one to kiss them.
I don't mind that your hands are callused and rough
From years of hard work,
As long as I am the only one to hold them.
I don't care how anxious and sad your thoughts are
From the countless fears and doubts you harbor,
As long as I am the only one to hear them.
I don't care how jagged your mind is,
Or how broken your heart is,
As long as I am the only one that is yours.
From the cold winter winds,
As long as I am the only one to kiss them.

Broken
Day to day
I ask myself
Am I broken?
Is the reason
I hate myself
Because somewhere
In my life
A part of me shattered?
But as I recall,
I've always been like this.
Insecurities have burned inside me
For as long as I had the ability to self identify.
So again,
I ask myself,
Am I broken?
But how can something be broken,
If it has always been in that condition?
Is that how it's supposed to be?
Is this how I am supposed to be?
I ask myself
Am I broken?
Is the reason
I hate myself
Because somewhere
In my life
A part of me shattered?
But as I recall,
I've always been like this.

Sadness Fancies Me
I do not fancy sadness.
Sadness fancies me.
She craves my attention,
She craves my thoughts.
She stalks me at day,
And attacks me at night.
She watches.
She learns.
She observes everything that makes me happy
And devours them, her the predator and I the prey.

MISCELLANEOUS POEM

When I am on top
When I am on top of you,
I am on top.
I do not mean in the literal sense,
much more the metaphorical sense.
You see, my dear,
I am meek and I am fragile.
I feel I am worthless.
Pointless.
When I am responsible for that sensation,
That feeling shot tingling down your spine
I think maybe, in that small yet splendid moment,
Just maybe I am worth something.
I am on top.
I do not mean in the literal sense,

Demons
I have demons inside me,
Thousands of them.
I do not speak of them,
That would only invite more in.
They crowd my mind
And sit at the tip of my tongue
I long to let them loose,
But only more darkness would follow.
One of them escaped once,
And in that moment I felt liberated.
Now, I am drowning in remorse
For one demon freed, equaled two more in its place.

How the Hell dare you
Tell me you love me,
Tell me you miss me,
Tell me you need me.

Hold my body as close as you can,

Hold my gaze as long as you can.

Every Time You Look At Me
Everytime you look at me affectionately,
I have to look away.
If only it were because I am too timid
to show my blushing cheeks.
Everytime you look at me,
I think of every single flaw on my face.
All I can think is
“Don’t let him see you.”
My nose is a bit too large,
My smile, a bit too crooked.
I know I look tired and my eyes dull,
due to lack of sleep.
Occasionally I look up to see if you are still looking,
And to my dismay,
A little voice says
“He keeps staring because you are so foul.”
I will continue...
