A Farewell Conversation
- You're so quiet.
I know.
- What's on your mind?
Only one thing, my friend,
how to leave the world
behind, trying to think of
a way out of this place, to
make my escape, to abandon
this race...
- How will you do it?
Of that, I'm not sure, but
give me a day, a week, or
perhaps a bit more; but I
will come up with something,
of this I am sure...
- Where will you go? With whom will you be?
Alone I will be, in ...
I know.

Haiku - Exposed (finale)
an eagle shrieks as
the bunny hops to safety;

Haiku - Exposed (part II)
(for Atakti)
licking bloody chops
the wolf wanders to the woods;
the bunny weeps joy

Despair
My old brother, Nate
looked at his plate
and found no morsel to eat.
He reached in his pants
and pulled out food stamps
and slouched with a sigh of defeat.

A Picnic
screaming seagulls
swarming skyward
sailing strongly
staring sternly
spying starfish
sliding slowly
stomachs sensing
survival sustenance
streaming southward
snatching skillfully
sandy seashore
steady swells...
... a great day for a picnic.

A New Beginning
Another life gone,
Another skin shed,
Another page turned
- a chapter ends.
The facade has crumbled,
Revelation revealed by
Synchronicity lifting the veil.
One part Fountainhead of wisdom,
One part Serene poem,
One part insightful discussion,
Many parts contemplation.
Unrelated pieces coming together
In a flash of realization
- You can't fix the world
until you fix yourself.

Winter Time
Olde Man Winter's here at last,
so no more denying, Autumn's passed.
Looking forward to the Springtime sun,
to go out and play, and swim, and run.
First we must deal with the cold and snow,
before we see the first flowers grow.
(sigh)

(a toast)... To Holiday Cheer...
The holiday season is now in full swing.
Gotta buy crap on a budget shoestring.
Carts filled sky high with meaningless toys
for all the wee spoiled ones - the girls and the boys.
(those self-centered, self-indulgent, entitled,
narcissistic, uncontrollable, unbearable, whining
whimpering, crying, badgering little F***ers)
(sorry, where was I?)
The junk that dads want all make noise, blink, and whir
while the moms want a gift that will make themselves...

A New "App"
Where is the 'app' to chew my food?
Where is the 'app' to tie my shoes?
Where is the 'app' to go to the bathroom for me
so I don't have to move my fat ass away
from the computer?
Where is the 'app' to walk and run?
I mean, 'apps' have replaced my brain, why not
the rest of me?

A Valentine's Wish
(this was a request from my wife, for her on Valentine's day. It also was runner up in the 'Love..anniversary' contest)
You wish me to write
a poem for you,
a Valentine's love note -
a task hard to do.
I'll give it a try
'cause it's what you desire,
and to grant you your wish
is to what I will aspire.
I'll try not to be corny
nor silly, or cliche,
so here I begin
this intimate fray.
My greatest desire is
to be with you forever,
you've stayed by my side
