MISCELLANEOUS POEM

In for the night.
Drive me not down to the old fair ground
for my mood is dark
I think on things not thought on much
since I’ve lost the art.
Since I was young the waiting world
has prophesied my doom
and we all know the stranger comes
when we are in our rooms.
So leave me here old friend of mine,
and dance and speak in tongues.
On your return I may yet be guarding
overflowing mugs.
But if I am not,
and I have gone
Don’t fear for me too long
For the waiting world,
and the stranger’s curled,
scythe has played my song.
for my mood is dark

Sisyphus and Vine
Of the days in which I am one thing
at least half I am many
I am not when I will not
and when I can I try.
But the wall builds itself
and the moon shines bright yet unseen
in the darkness which must follow
the shadow of the is not
pours itself across the surface
to run over the edges and pool underneath.
In this space below I oft find myself lying
drinking deep of the drops as they drip
greedy suckling sot
parched and starving from the strain of crawling under.
Prone in the blackness
beneath this somber harvest table
I reflect...
at least half I am many

Bought the Farm. Not Leaving.
o death of me you’ll get no joy
nor make me utter pleas
i will not beg or wail for you
when thee comes for me
i am not the waiting willing
man of eld and feeble times
these arms, this back, these legs you see
are strong of meat and wine
and not will i go quietly down
to the sleepy bower black
in hazy under-mountain town
to sleep upon thy rack
gripping fast to my pike
with earthly, fleshly hands
when old man scythe and bone comes call
i’ll stay and i will stand
no after lands for me old man
no songs in...

I love you.
when my fuckin car is broken down
when my fuckin bills are due
when I have a boss
and he thinks he owns me
when I have no money
when I have nothing
when I have to no one to talk to
I love you
I miss you
I wait for the day
that I can get my head on straight
so that I can feel

Ziggurat, or something.
I could kill myself, I won't.
But I get it.
If I could be assured a reasonable chance
of hurtling through the cosmos,
I would probably take it.
If I could be assured a reasonable chance
of seeing something interesting,
truly interesting;
something huge, different, vague, unknowable,
something beyond my comprehension.
I'd take it.
I'd cut off my own fucking head.
I want to die.
Pretty often.
I watch a tree get nearer to me,
as I drive.
I stand on a roof and feel the excitement build
in my feet
in my shoulders
in...
But I get it.
If I could be assured a reasonable chance

I wake.
And the fire still burns.
I was another person yesterday
Though I am still today.
Do you remember what we said to each other?
the vitriol we vomited forth.
We were alone
together.
we were as we are.
The two of us.
Together
We spoke of
things of other places
dimensions far
and apart
we breathed of absence and loss
we bragged of times that we lived in
the time you jumped so far
down.
The time you were so angry
the time you were so far
from everything.
I was afraid,

Since I was young they have asked
"why are you so angry?"
And all I can think to say is...
Because of lobbyists in congress,
because of fear of this osama
because of hate of the unknown
because of fate from the above
because I'm a boy and your a girl
and our position in the world
because of racists and the cops
and old abandoned lots
because homeless dudes are dying
while friday fish is frying
for the church groups sitting pretty
and the local hag committee
because we can't stop the violence ...

Daily Driver
Crows dance expectantly on the wire.
It's gonna happen soon.
Big John's about to blow through.
As he does every night.
Full speed.
Burnin' up.
In the:
4 wheel
5 speed
crew cab
high octane
ninety nine
mother fuckin' truck
"Abandon hope all ye who cross here"
From babbling brook
to quiet meadow.
Big John goes by here on his way to work.
And he don't care
about your little possum family
or your little possum life
He's got to get to work
To clothe his darlin' wife.
It's gonna happen soon.

Drag Me
Grace is a foreign concept to one such as I.
A stagnant Alcohol soaked, mud blooded brick of a man.
If you were to bring gold back from Faerie
the leaden sum would characterize,
generally,
my self.
Trudging through grey days, humping a sodden moral load,
I make no attempt to extricate my soul from mindless drudgery.
Fearing change, hoping for nothing,
and trying
Not
Very
Much.
I slug my way through an
aimless
hopeless,
weary ...
