Separate Lives
You burn like a star and light the darkest corners
Of my heart
But only when I know you.
There are times that I don't know you,
Nor do you know me
And we go a lifetime or two without the other.
Every morning I wake up with you on my mind
But somehow the world manages to force you from my thoughts
As I go through the monotony of life.
I love the days when I wake with you and remember
The smell of your hair and the way you feel under my fingers.
I know every night when I go to sleep
That you might not be with me when I wake up.
I can feel the...

Clogged
My whole body feels like it's clogged with old memories.
I'm tired. I want to be translucent.
I want to be clear and empty and devoid of all the emotions that hold me back.
I want to be thin and frail and breakable so everyone knows to be wary of me, careful, deliberate.
Everyone will know to handle with care and I won't hurt again.
I'll be wrapped in bubble wrap like fine china and I'll be safe in my own soft prison.
I won't be poked and prodded with the hard questions people force on me, or the roles they think I have to fulfill.
I will have 'handle with care'...

Future
It is frightening when I think of the days
I have to spend without you.
I know that time will come;
It must.
There will be no joint goodbyes,
No whispered 'I love yous' as we fade.
In reality there will only be tears
And stifled sobs as we watch the other fade.
It hurts when I think about it
And my chest constricts so that I can't breathe.
But as that time comes and the other has gone from life
They will wait;
Whether I for you or you for me.
No, we shall not be reborn without the other
As our spirits know one another like...

Won't Let Go
I wonder if you hold my in as high regard as I hold you.
The only harm you have caused me is petty, small
Not nightmare worthy or even scarring.
I think I'd rather be hurt by you than anyone else.
In all our love for each other, we have hit rough patches
Potholes of anger and distrust
We have crashed once,
Going our separate ways to leave the other to fate.
But you;
Your dark eyes have always reminded me of an animal

I'm not used to so many pills
They're sitting in the cabinet and on the table
There are a few bottles on the bed.
You're rolling another joint on the clean sheets
They look pale and pasty with the weed spread out on them.
You're laughing because I still seem so reluctant to smoke with you
Even though you know I'm not used to doing it yet.
You said you had quit drugs,
Haven't touched pills or coke in years
You hated relapsing in prison
You hated getting raped when you were high.
But I guess things changed when you got a new girl like me ...

It was one of those nights that was best saved for the fall; dark and rainy like Poseidon was angry and wanted to drown the world. It was cold and the wind whipped my hair even through my hood. I was glad of the new addition to my wardrobe, because the other jacket I had was no match for this wintry weather. But it didn't feel like winter. Sweet Embrace
And I try to rest
But closing my eyes I'm met with the mental image
You in another's arms
So in love
And soon your bodies tangle
But I can't look away
Forced to see this hideous sight unfold
The more intimate you become the more I scream
I ask for it to stop
Why am I being forced to watch this
Tears run down my face as you kiss
And my body shakes as yours grinds together
I wish I could wake up
But you don't hear my pleads
You keep going
I'm trapped forever
Doomed to watch you fall in love
And be with a girl
Who isn't me

Lessons in Self Esteem
You pick me up when I'm struggling on the ground
But telling me to pick my head up
Doesn't help either of us
I listen as you lecture

I can't get the taste of you off my lips
Brushing my teeth
There's still candy, and you, and cyanide
I don't want my nails digging into fabric
I want skin on skin contact, sweetie
What's better than having a little fun
When no one knows where you are
Please, give it to me baby
You're all I need
I want the taste of you on my lips
Your teeth on my neck
My hands on your body
And our hearts together
Breaking at the same time

Breathing in my mouth
The human body
An enigma
Clips and phrases
Words lost
Actions remembered
What else would remain
Lying for safety
Caring but hurting
Feelings mix with sex
Mix with confusion
Mix all over again
Where are our values
Morals are just contradictions now

Flightless
I am a bird trapped in this body
My feathers no longer free me
Nor does the air I once soared through
I long for the day my wings lift my spirits again
I am grounded, permanently
While my home is the sky, I am homeless
My body aches for movement but I am still
The sky is my friend, my family; I have nothing left
I try; I jump, I flutter, all in vain
All I want is to catch the wind in my feathers
Without my love and my life I wish only for death
I try again, I jump
I fall and do not fly
My feathers no longer free me
