Life And Cigarettes
I take a draw on a marlboro,
Menthol,
Black 100's,
Long,
And I realize how short life truly is,
From one smoking end to the other,
Smoke vapors on the wind,
Ashes and "butts" are our legacy,
I take another draw on the marlboro,
And I notice this is killing me,
(But so is life)
But hey,
We're all gonna die someday.

The Perfect Place
Quiet, Peaceful, Serene
A deck out on a secluded lake,
(taking glances to watch the water move or see the fish swim stealthily about)
A porch in the deep south,
(slowly swinging on a swing or rocking chair)
The kitchen table or your favorite chair when no one is home,
(to busy at shopping malls and other loud places)
Oh these are the places I'd rather be,
When i had a book to read.

Irony In What You Seek
Oh there's irony in what you seek young man
with eyes sea blue and auburn hair,
That what you seek is wanting of
someone else,
She doesn't need your warmth,
Oh there's irony in what you seek young woman
with red lips and voluptuous chest,
That what you seek is going
to use you,
One good use and your out the door,
Oh there's irony in what we all seek
gasping and reaching for the unattainable,
To only realize that
in the end,
It was little Timmy that fell down a "wishing" well.

Work of Art
Your spine shows your name and
your back tells all about you,
Your cover hints at the elegance
and story inside you,
Dust knows no home better than you,
Your pages are frayed at the ends,
(from all the constant use of avid owners)
And they have become yellowed with age,
(And a sweet odor emits causing the holder to stop and breathe in the story)
But still the ink stays on,
Binding looses,
Pages fall out over
time,
But in my eyes there is still no sight prettier
than an old loved
book.

Down the Hall
Quietly
She walks unperturbed,
(Her feet whisper across the floor)
Towards her goal at the end of the hall,
Slowly
She inches the door slowly open and peers inside,
To see the treasure that awaits patiently,
The treasure looks and beckons,
Nervously
She answers his call,
Taking her place beside him,
(Revealing more than bargained for)
She takes his hand in hers,
Passionately
His lips embrace hers,
(Bodies reacting one to another)
He takes her and she takes him in turn,
Romance...

I need to be a son,
To obey an to love,
To study and do my best,
I'll get around to it
I need to be a father,
To work and achieve,
To support my family,

To do all appointed to me,
To take care of my house,
I'll get around to it
I need to be a workman,
To do my job and do it right,
To make no mistakes,

To go out and change MY world,
To be different and run against the crowd,

Believe me
Hell isn't as bad as it seems
(when your way up above)
It's only when the flames on your coattails that it really starts to make you sing,

The dark waters aren't so deep,
(when your so sure you can swim to shore)
It's only when the weight pulls you down that your mind begins to scream,

Love isn't so grand,

The Working Man
The workingman awakes promptly
at 3a.m in the
morning.
He makes his coffee then
sits down to read the
morning newspaper.
Half an hour later
He's on his way to
work.
He stops at the local
gas-n-go
and
picks
up
a
pack
of
cigarettes.
(He'd stopped two months ago)
Work is a living hell
Spare parts for the engines
haven't came in yet
and
Jim doesn't finish anything.
After eight hours of hell
He's owns his way home again
and
Stops by the local bar for
beer
chips
and ...
at 3a.m in the
morning.
He makes his coffee then

On a brief encounter,
Hello
We talked briefly of our past,
Of how i remembered everything about you,
