Looking back
Things I’ve felt (feel) changed so fast
Nothing ever seems to slow
Days go by, weeks go by
Faces go by, lives go by(e)
Wishing things were simple
Knowing things are better
Where will I be tomorrow?
I wish I knew.

Bliss
Ignorance is bliss
or so
they say
Until ignorance drives
them to tears
at 3 am
wondering where love has gone
Ignorance is bliss
as a teenager
wondering if mom would
swallow too many pills
and never hug you again
Ignorance is bliss
until you find that
words and actions
are as separate as
how I feel for you and
how you feel for me
Ignorance is bliss.

I've always lived
Life
looking for the
Exit sign
Everywhere I was
I tried to escape
Most of my time
was spent
trying to dodge misery
Like rain drops
The faster I ran
the more it
appeared
So now
I just stand still

Things I’ve always
wanted to say
but never did
grasping for
some last words
something that will haunt you
but bring my sad soul peace
for now I wander
always searching

would be strong

A funny thing.
Memory
is such a funny thing
I remember when
eyes half glazed
poisoned to the brim
we sat there
and you spoke to me
like none other
I remember your words
as clear as that night
I remember seeing your face
words sounding like
sweet melodies
from your mouth
of you and me
but I can’t seem to recall
your smell
or the feel of your skin
for you see
memory is a funny thing
and that’s all you are now
a memory.

The Wall
This wall isn’t made
from brick or mortar
It’s sealed with 3 am loneliness
it’s bricks are
the wanting to be needed
and it’s foundation
the need to be wanted
This wall keeps
the citizens of emotion trapped behind
like fiefs to a castle
and keeps all
who ride their horses of love
to it’s big ugly gate
at bay

I feel deep sadness
For the roads we all forgot
For as we were used to
Traveling on them
To lovers we’ve now forgotten
They made lovers of our presence
They saw who we really are
Alone in our cars
And they will always be there

I never attained
my own worth
through the lips and eyes of those around
but when days and months seem like years
