I'm scrapin'
I'm scrapin' the marrow
I'm scrapin' the marrow from the
splintered bones of my last hero
Sustenance
Flecks of sustenance as I cower
Cower under this shelf
This outcropping of old white guy
Trepidatiously I peer out at a
Skynet world
Shadow goverments
Shady leaders
Populations being winnowed
Pared back by 'progress'
There was a time (and I remember this time) when it was said "Man will never walk on the Moon"
And now when it is said "Worldwide famine is impossible"

Here I am again
Naked and shivering
Seated where I write unimpeded
Looking at where the word
and I have been for the last couple of years
The internet ether
Curious place for a man who instinctively
measures physical distance (it's a survivor thing)
Electric world got no boundries that touch
People push and pull each other unmarked
The word and I- we move through all this
We try to stay loose
Minimize drag
We both know that soon enough the plug
is popped
Then it is once again...
Seated where I write unimpeded

here I am
a simple man
gettin' ready to go to sleep
layin' on the bed
awaitin' the wife to switch out the light
(she's phone yakkin' in the other room)
next to me, on the shelf, within easy reach
a book, a torch, a gun
if I wake during the night
I like to read a bit of Bukowski

My body loves me
It wants to be with me all the time
Sure, sometimes I have felt this is inconvenient
Crowding
Clingy
Smothering
Over time, however, I have matured
My understanding of a mate's needs
has grown
All relationships require what, at first blush, appears to be compromise
(some say "Give and Take")
I've learned to regard the process as
adjustment
A way of peaceful coexistence
To be clear- there will always be
times when I want to do something
and my body is reluctant

Roses are dead
Violets are, too
If I'm schizophrenic
how can I know I ain't you?
The birds are rioting out of the trees
Mobbing down to the ground
Raping the seed from the grass
I can't write like Bukowski
Damn his eyes
(I can only look into them)
I can't write like Beefheart
Christ- her thighs
(If only I could see them)
And The Rhymers
The crimin' rhymin'
ruin of verses
from their perfectly precious pieces
Birds- wing us from this perch
Claw my face...

Now I'm really screwed
Offed the meat sack
here I am
Dead
Which really isn't the problem
It's just that
I didn't fit in with the world
Not anywhere
Not with anyone
After half a century of tryin'
I tried this
And here I am
Surrounded by a bunch of
well-
souls
with whom I've nothing in common
(exept the obvious)
Hell-
I wouldn't even share a bus ride
(back there)
with any of these-

It's that I was listening to the President recently. One time he was talking about how his views on relationships are "evolving". And, in another address to us, how the world is changing. And how our responsibilities need to keep up.

Needled
Shootin' heroin with Jesus and Wolverine.
J.C. scored the bag so he goes first.
His halo's tiltin'.
Yep- he got off.
Now Logan.
Man- that's a monstrously large hit.
Well, he put in most of the buy money.
Suppose it's his right.
He registers and slams the plunger home.
Lopsided grin.
Beautific gaze.
There he goes.
Ooops- he's down.
Flat on his back.
Pupils pinned and rolled up.
Tryin' to get under his eyelids.
And foam.
Frothy foam dribblin' from the corners of his mouth....

Some Poets
some poets
when they write
it's their words
they look like colored chalk drawings
on cement
on a sidewalk
beautiful
artistic
folks stop and gaze
admire and walk around
nothin' wrong with that
then the dark comes
their words cannot blaze guidance
are trampled without regard
and an errant shower
rebirths the grey
the hard grey that gleams dully
in the damp dawn
when they write
it's their words

Kent State Graduation
We put flowers in your National Guard rifle barrels
Carefully, the stems were slid in
The Peace Daisy Petals, white flags of truce and surrender, blossoming at the muzzle openings
You, Guardians of the Nation, you put four of us to Rest In Peace that day
And now, all these years later, are we about to go at it again?
How is it we never find a way to live with each other?
A Drone of New World Order hunts from the American sky
Personalized V2 rockets of National Safety
We lay down amongst the flowers
And...
