POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Hi, My name is Maenad. I am an addict of self expression.
Glass
My glass house shattered
I don't know why
and now the glass is scattered
every which way
I hope I can find it in the sky today
for I have an eye there
and no care
I don't know why
and now the glass is scattered
every which way
I hope I can find it in the sky today
for I have an eye there
and no care

Dead
As we sit in our dead wood
eating a soul
and wearing it's skin.
Watching amusing lies
to pretend it's all fine.
Even you have trouble swallowing this line
Choke and cough on the facts of our time
"Don't cry over spilt milk" they say
But what happens when we cut down our last tree
and spend our last breath?
What will happen to you and me?
eating a soul
and wearing it's skin.
Watching amusing lies
to pretend it's all fine.
Even you have trouble swallowing this line
Choke and cough on the facts of our time
"Don't cry over spilt milk" they say
But what happens when we cut down our last tree
and spend our last breath?
What will happen to you and me?

Noun
Desperately trying to bend my frown upside down
Defying gravity like a clown
God is not a noun
Defying gravity like a clown
God is not a noun

Cyanide For Tea
Why must you make converse
upon another's pain and suffering?
Can we not agree
that we have a horrid reality?
Sit back and sip your tea
upon another's pain and suffering?
Can we not agree
that we have a horrid reality?
Sit back and sip your tea

Face
I cannot say
"Do not", or, "Do"
I have no face today
It left while I was away
Ran away this day
To another, more agreeable place, to stay
I guess I have to sew another face
"Do not", or, "Do"
I have no face today
It left while I was away
Ran away this day
To another, more agreeable place, to stay
I guess I have to sew another face

Aware
Right
Left
I will not go
Do not tell me so
I know
Ask
Suggest
Allow time to respond
Heal the gap
Mend the tear
Knit the bone of my despair
For I am still here... aware
Left
I will not go
Do not tell me so
I know
Ask
Suggest
Allow time to respond
Heal the gap
Mend the tear
Knit the bone of my despair
For I am still here... aware

Tears
If I could release tears
I would
a thousand or more for each fear
a thousand or more for each despair
a thousand or more for each unfair
I think I have enough bottled
that if I allowed them
there would be a second Great Flood
Anyone care to go for a swim?

Anyone care to go for a swim?

Bottoms Up
And here I sit
in my pretend
swimming towards my end
carried by the current
of DeNial.
I do not travel alone -
pack animals are never alone.
How long can we keep our heads above the brink
when we swallow it in like it's breathable drink?
To your health
Bottoms up!
in my pretend
swimming towards my end
carried by the current
of DeNial.
I do not travel alone -
pack animals are never alone.
How long can we keep our heads above the brink
when we swallow it in like it's breathable drink?
To your health
Bottoms up!

Barter
I barter for my food
with my very breath
Borrow the soil
that will outlast me
Eat the poison
that slowly kills me
And I wonder that I hide the real me?
with my very breath
Borrow the soil
that will outlast me
Eat the poison
that slowly kills me
And I wonder that I hide the real me?

Hide
Peek a boo
Can't see me now
I wear another face
it's in the same place
as the last face
Can't play with me now
I can't find that face
since it left this place

Time For Bed
As I hug you close
and dry your tears
I tell you silly prose
that makes you really laugh
a deep belly laugh
that jiggles your cheeks
and wrinkles your nose
I love you so
but, dear God!
Must you go through "death throes"
when it's time to go to bed?
and dry your tears
I tell you silly prose
that makes you really laugh
a deep belly laugh
that jiggles your cheeks
and wrinkles your nose
I love you so
but, dear God!
Must you go through "death throes"
when it's time to go to bed?

Picture
I saw a pose of you
frozen in plain view
it was just one side of the you I knew
it lied about you
not in untruth
but rather the narrowness was untrue
it didn't show all of you
frozen in plain view
it was just one side of the you I knew
it lied about you
not in untruth
but rather the narrowness was untrue
it didn't show all of you
