Poet Introduction
LadyLoss is who I am when I don't want to be me anymore.
Dear Neighbours,
I've only lived here two weeks,
But you're starting to drive me insane.
You're both so bloody noisy,
I want to move home again.
You only own one CD,
With music ten years old.
If it's not that, you're stomping around,
You really need to be told.
The way you scrape your chairs along the floor,
The way you scream at each other when you're mad.
The way you let your kids run up and down the halls,
It's starting to make me quite sad.
But the worst part of it all,
The part that makes my new home suck.
Calm it, no...
But you're starting to drive me insane.

It's not the same.
It's not the same,
No matter what you say.
You're in my front room,
1200 miles away.
'No one's far away anymore'
My iPad tells me,
With your voice,
Looking like you.
My phone plays the video message,
Pretending to be you.
But it's not you.
Not really.
Bridging a gap, with video calls.
But I can't touch you,
Can't fall asleep next to you.
Can't kiss you when you say the words.
Because at the moment,
You're just an image on an iPad.
1200 miles. In the same room.
May as well be on...
No matter what you say.
You're in my front room,
1200 miles away.

He will always be to you, much more than I could be.
More important, more vital, more significant than me.
His smile will always be prettier than mine,
You already love him more than me, I'll deal with it, in time.
You'll watch him sleep, because you can,
In thirty years, he'll still be your man.
I'll just be there, somewhere, in the back of your mind,
And at some point, you'll forget, I'd be the one you used to be the one you'd find.
I'll look for you, find you, kiss you on the cheek,
You'll be looking over my shoulder, for the man you...

You won't Say
You won't say you love me,
But you'll remember how I like my Cuban,
Three ice cubes,
A slice of lime, carved into a love heart,
More coke than rum,
Because otherwise, I'm slurring after one.
I guess I was wrong.
You won't say you love me,
But you'll remember every one
Of my family's names,
So that when I mention one,
You can reply with the other,
And prove to me that you listened,
I guess I was wrong.
You won't say you love me,
But you'll drive me
Across the continent for 18 hours,
Because you know ...

At Some Point
At some point,
I didn't roll my eyes,
At everything you said.
At some point,
I came to bed at the same time
As you; I needed you to hold me.
At some point,
I kissed you every time
I walked past you; I couldn't resist.
At some point,
I loved you more than
I ever thought it was possible to love anyone.
At some point.
Can we go back to some point?
Some point made me happy.
At some point,
I felt this before,
I learned to love you again.
At some point.
I didn't roll my eyes,
At everything you said.
At some point,
I came to bed at the same time
As you; I needed you to hold me.
At some point,
I kissed you every time

I'm fine.
Babe, I'm fine.'
You'll never believe me,
As long as I don't smile
At your references to
How awesome you are
In the bedroom.
'Babe. I'm fine.'
I tell you again,
As you look at me
Like a confused puppy,
Head to the side,
You'd look cute,
If you weren't annoying
The hell out of me.
'I'm fine.'
On the seventeenth time you ask.
In the last two hours.
Now you're starting to talk to me
Through gritted teeth,
Because this game
Is wearing thin on you too.
'I. Am. Fine. Stop asking.' ...

Chance Meeting
Hello Stranger!'
You call to me from across the road,
Despite my blatant action
Of turning my back on you.
'Shit, shit, shit' I mutter.
I turn back to face you,
You ruffle my hair,
Put one hand in one cheek,
Pull my face towards you,
To air kiss me.
The pretention of it.
The first time you've said a word to me
In 4 months.
The first time you've touched me,
In over 2 years,
Yet the spark was just the same,
Ruffling my hair,
Reminded me of when you were pulling it,
Running your fingers through it, ...

Financial Quandary
They say this place is haunted,
By dead staff,
Sometimes, I can see their point.
I'd haunt the place too,
If I'd had to be here
All my life.
A temporary job,
It's become my bread and butter,
The petrol in my car,
The place I have to be,
If I don't want to rely completely,
On my parents.
Oh, wow, it's payrise time,
Right before my full time hours kick in,
For the summer.
This should be good.
An extra pound
For every five hours in this hole.
I'm a lucky girl.
I'm allowed...

Back here, again,
With my own little
Personal black cloud,
Hovering over my head.
Torrential rain,
Pours down my face,
Covering my eyes,
Making the light
The sun,
The beauty
Blurred at best,
Invisible to me at worst.
The songbirds are singing
I hear ravens' caws,
The light breeze,
Supposed to cool
Chills me to the bone.
Nothing is right here,
Because nothing
Is ever as stunning
As I imagine it to be.
There's always a dark side,
Always a negative,
Always something
That...

Where did you go?
We are just twin souls,
Buffeted by life's maelstroms'
You wrote to me once.
Under the guise of poetry critique,
We would exchange words,
Support, a cyber hand
To hold on the way through bad days.
Where the clouds parted,
There was an image
Of what I imagined you to be,
Smiling, caring, haunted by demons
That hung out with mine
While we messaged,
Text
But never called.
It seems strange that I never knew
What music your voice would make.
When your words would keep me going
Through a day,
That...

Logging Off for a while Because...
Once again,
The vitriolic stain,
Appears,
Under the guise of 'art.'
I feel, I must ask you a question...
I fall in love with,
Court,
Kiss,
Fuck
Whoever the hell I want,
Whatever's between their legs.
So does that make me
Better
Or worse
Than the 'freaky fucking ass shaggers
Or fucking rug munchers'.
I know what it is that's bugging you,
It's that with three subtle movements
Of any part of my body
I could do things to a woman that you
Don't even know exist, outside porn.
Or maybe...

Bottom of a bottle.
Once again,
I find myself
Staring into the bottom of
An empty bottle,
Bleary eyed and lonely.
Texting anyone
That would come
And waste some time with me.
Once again,
I find myself
Reaching for the crate of beer,
Conveniently placed by my side,
Because if this bottle didn't help
Ease the pain of loneliness,
Then the next one is bound to be a winner.
If the next one is a winner,
Maybe I won't decide
I need company
Now.
Because my own company
Just reminds me
That all I've ever been ...
