POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I write poetry as a hobby and an emotional release. But I do really love it and hope to do something with my writing one day.
Affection
You're affection is a high,
Unlike any I have felt.
So cherished is it's freedom,
How horrid it's release.
Don't go away,
Continue by my side.
As I chain you here,
So unfairly.
Must I let you go?
You're affection is the rain,
Of my long summer days.
Even though you must go away,
I love you all the more.
When I'm blessed by you.
I cannot keep you.
Like a bird you are not mine.
However, I invite you,
Come sing for me.
For a while, lift me up.
So when I fall,
It hurts.
But I love...
Unlike any I have felt.
So cherished is it's freedom,
How horrid it's release.
Don't go away,
Continue by my side.
As I chain you here,
So unfairly.
Must I let you go?
You're affection is the rain,
Of my long summer days.
Even though you must go away,
I love you all the more.
When I'm blessed by you.

Like a bird you are not mine.
However, I invite you,
Come sing for me.

So when I fall,
It hurts.

Who Would See a Falling Star
There are places where the shadows greet,
But they do not like to stay.
In fact, I find, that as we speak,
Some have faded far away.
Plaster smiles and practiced hellos,
Greet the midday sun.
At its most present moment,
How rude it is not to greet him.
Past the hours, the shadows squirm,
Desperate to be free.
The first chance they leap!
Away,
So very far away.
The sun can only watch.
As all fades to gloomy gray.
Leaving the unwelcoming ground.
Should he crash,
No one is around.
Who would see a falling...
But they do not like to stay.
In fact, I find, that as we speak,
Some have faded far away.
Plaster smiles and practiced hellos,
Greet the midday sun.
At its most present moment,
How rude it is not to greet him.

From Sky to Earth
The bird tweets and is seen,
At only a passing glance.
The bird tweets and is heard,
In only faint memory.
Lonely little brown bird,
Not of colored hues.
You live by staying out of sight.
But how long
Have you been gone?
Fading into the Earth.
At only a passing glance.
The bird tweets and is heard,
In only faint memory.
Lonely little brown bird,
Not of colored hues.
You live by staying out of sight.
But how long
Have you been gone?
Fading into the Earth.

Birds of A Feather
There's a flock of birds before me,
Feathered all unique.
They pitter and patter and tweet.
All while tolerating my company,
Ignoring my handful of crumbs.
Only looking when it suits them to peck,
With hardened beaks.
It's been made clear,
That I am no bird,
Any feathers that I own,
Glued on and dulled.
For all they look and all they say,
Those dear little birds flap away.
Leaving a hand pecked dry,
A featherless bird,
Aching to join the flight.
Feathered all unique.
They pitter and patter and tweet.
All while tolerating my company,
Ignoring my handful of crumbs.
Only looking when it suits them to peck,
With hardened beaks.
It's been made clear,

Ignite
One day a flame will ignite,
For me I hope it swells.
It burns my heart to a crisp,
And allows for rebirth.
The smell of wood and wax,
Of wick,
A constant reminder I exist.
My fire created to burn,
Only brighter, only bigger.
Stirred by impossible winds,
Fueled by friends, kind hands,
Seared into the souls I warm.
Continuously creating sparks.
For me I hope it swells.
It burns my heart to a crisp,
And allows for rebirth.
The smell of wood and wax,
Of wick,
A constant reminder I exist.
My fire created to burn,
Only brighter, only bigger.
Stirred by impossible winds,
Fueled by friends, kind hands,
Seared into the souls I warm.

The Decision for What?
An endless void of peace,
A starless night of sleep.
A hope long gone,
Dreams lost into the deep.
The world was harder,
The skies darker,
Words were hard to form.
If only I had the courage,
To bleed.
It's a strange sort of awe,
When you see the mark of another.
Admire, amazed, afraid.
So afraid,
That I won't do it.
But am I more afraid that I will?
A starless night of sleep.
A hope long gone,
Dreams lost into the deep.
The world was harder,
The skies darker,
Words were hard to form.
If only I had the courage,
To bleed.
It's a strange sort of awe,
When you see the mark of another.

But am I more afraid that I will?

Ambition
If on this night I reach out
Grabbing from the sky a star,
Would heaven and earth punish me?
For taking what isn't mine.
What child does not stare,
Craned necks and heavy heads
Awed eyes and yearning hands.
To only grab a piece of that.
We are but bugs in a jar,
And the holes a holy light.
A pleasant wonder,
A secret world.
All above our heads.
So if my hand were to take
And simply hold a star,
Whose life is but a million beats,
Compared to all of ours.
I will cherish the wonder given. ...

If I Can Share Your Spirit
There are cliffs whose drop is to deep,
But there is always a rope,
Willing to reach down for me.
There are wings,
Willing to give me flight.
Another persons spirit
Stirring mine to fight.
He is my anchor to reality,
My boat away from death.
The sea is vast and large,
Deep and wonderfully numb.
Yet he will not fall from under me.
What reminds me that I must live?
Every thought on earth.
But who will care if the weights to much?
A single ear to hear,
And burden with me the sky.
If I can...
But there is always a rope,
Willing to reach down for me.

Willing to give me flight.

All the Words I Need
In her smile
I find new hope.
His laugh a beacon,
A welcome home.
The body of a woman,
Or the love of man.
The tree that bends,
Creeks and screams,
Outside my window.
A mirror,
Set before me.
A brush in my hand,
Dipping with colors
Dreamt of in my mind.
The city skyline,
Beyond my sight
Past a field of green.
The world is open,
She has accepted me.
Given to me,
All the words I need.
I find new hope.
His laugh a beacon,
A welcome home.
The body of a woman,
Or the love of man.
The tree that bends,
Creeks and screams,
Outside my window.

Given to me,
All the words I need.

Loyal Love
There are no words for you.
What once flowed, is staunched.
Backed up like my heart.
With thoughts of you.
There are no colors,
For the love and hurt
As you carved away my trust,
And placed me in stone.
Nothing comes to mind,
But the whirl of confusion.
I've been dragged through mud,
By the hand of a giant.
Yet, when I look up,
It is only a man.
A week willed, tiny,
Man.
Daddy.
That was you.
Wasn't it?
Who took away my words.
Who took with you my love.
Who took with you my need....
What once flowed, is staunched.
Backed up like my heart.
With thoughts of you.
There are no colors,
For the love and hurt
As you carved away my trust,
And placed me in stone.
Nothing comes to mind,
But the whirl of confusion.
I've been dragged through mud,

Yet, when I look up,

The Sea and The Shore
Can the Sea not accept?
Or do her eyes not see?
That I push and pull with all in me,
To get the world just right.
I do not plead for her mercy.
As if expecting her to hear,
My silent tears
Crying through a shell.
That I alone
Cannot hold the waters to me.
They are forever within my grasp,
Out of my capability.
The Sea can only scold motherly,
And expect more.
The Shore can only try harder,
To hold upon it the world.
Or do her eyes not see?
That I push and pull with all in me,
To get the world just right.
I do not plead for her mercy.
As if expecting her to hear,
My silent tears
Crying through a shell.
That I alone
Cannot hold the waters to me.
They are forever within my grasp,
Out of my capability.
The Sea can only scold motherly,
And expect more.
The Shore can only try harder,
To hold upon it the world.

Hands Out
Sometimes, I cannot keep my hands open.
For my hands will splinter,
As life is thrown at me.
It's heavy dose of reality,
Of pain.
Other days I am eager,
Happy to have willed my palms out.
Catching the sun,
The joy,
And the love.
For my hands will splinter,
As life is thrown at me.
It's heavy dose of reality,
Of pain.
Other days I am eager,
Happy to have willed my palms out.
Catching the sun,
The joy,
And the love.
