DARK POEM

It's only begun
Tears fall from the sun
As the shades are drawn down
Rivers forged on my face
Raging torrents I drown
Enveloped in darkness
That's blacker than night
Demons screaming in hunger
I've no will to fight
Theygorge on my flesh
As blood pours from my veins
Life and breath gone
Just a shell that remains
Bright moon comes out laughing
Revealing dead bones
Strength sapped from my spirit
Soul writhes as it moans
This isn't the end
No, it's only begun
The 'Powers that Be'
Haven't yet had their fun!

Maybe
I crawl back
Into my cave
In the darkness
Of the night
Where try as it may
Light of the moon
Cannot reach
The depths
To which
I have tunneled
And in the morn
Suns rays
Cannot penetrate
Past the curved entrance
Cleverly constructed
With purpose
I shall remain hidden
Hiding
The fool
That I am
From prying eyes
Few know my secret
And it shall remain
That way
To protect him?
Maybe...
I know I always will
Just as he knows
I would lay myself down
In the path
Of the dragon...
Into my cave
In the darkness
Of the night

Meaningless Emotion
Meaningless Emotion
She sits alone
On the rocks
Staring out to sea
Warm salty air
Filling her lungs
As she breathes
To prove she is alive
A beautiful sight
To match
Beautiful feelings
That have no meaning
Meaningless Emotion
She is sitting
By the waters edge
Looking, searching
But he cannot be seen
She pushed him
On his raft
Out into the deep blue sea
He drifted away...
Her unwilling choice
Self-protecting from pain
Of love that has no purpose
Meaningless Emotion
She is heartbroken...
She sits alone

A Pawn
To you
I am no one
To you
I am no thing
In the chess game
Of your life
I have been
But a pawn
Used for your advantage
As long as you needed
Then sacrificed
And taken
Off the board
I did my best
Moved only to protect you
Keeping you on your throne
Where I still believe
You belong
Now I stand
Beside the chequered board
Blood seeping
From my wounds
Into a pool
On the tabletop
Congealing
As I stand in my agony
Watching you
Dancing around the squares
Smiling
With all the pieces...
I am no one
To you
I am no thing

Of your life
I have been

I am always ok
Yet I never am

Living in Wonderland
I'm always on time
'Cause you just never know
Yet eternally late
With nowhere to go
Call me Alice
In my confused wonderland
A cheshire grin on my face
For the whole world to see
But it's just painted on
That isn't me

In my fake wonderland
Mad Hatters Tea Party
Is where I belong

Queen of Hearts on her throne...

Left Behind
A little bit left
A little bit right
With nobody left behind
Except me
Nothing of us left
Nothing of us right
All there is is behind
Looking, that's all I can see
Moments now gone
Did they ever exist?
Were they just a dream?
Or an imagined ecstasy?
Winds of change now a blowing
Leaves dancing around
Headed where I can't say
Nor where in the future I'll be
But I know
It won't be with you...

Am I Alive?
I live
In a fantasy
My head
In the clouds
Never looking
Never seeing
Face
Covered
In shrouds
Thunder bellows
Lightning strikes
The heavens
They open
Masking tears
Of false hope
That once
Was believed in
Washing away
Dreams
That were
Never real
Rain hitting
Like daggers
Cold heart
On warm steel
Breathing in
Bleeding out
Silent screams
Hear me shout

Spin the Wheel
Strange is the heart
And how it feels
The days go by
So spins the wheel
Fortunes up
And fortunes down
Cycles of love
Round and round
The constant ache
As thorns pierce through
The healing joy
Of love that's true
Love unreturned
The deepest pain
It never finds shelter
From pouring rain
It lives alone
Soaked, cold and lonely
Till the wound is healed
And it is set free
Give me shelter
Heal me
Spin the wheel...
And how it feels
The days go by
So spins the wheel
Fortunes up
And fortunes down
Cycles of love
Round and round
The constant ache
As thorns pierce through
The healing joy
Of love that's true
Love unreturned
The deepest pain

Zombie
Nobody knew
The day I died
Alive I seem
But dead inside
So many took turns
To smother the child
With each gasp for breath
Body defiled
This coffin now the bed
I sleep in as awake I walk the world
Standing straight, standing tall
Feotal position I am curled
Will my body ever be found
In this unconscious state
Breath of life given
And nightmares abate

Does anyone
See

Same
The sun that warms me
As it lights my way
And shines brightly
In the brilliance
Of a hot summers day
Is the same sun
That burns me
Leaving my skin
Red, blistered and sore
The wind that playfully
Tugs at my hair
As I stand at the peak
Of a majestic mountain top
Is the same wind
That causes my lips
To become dry
To crack
And to peel
The rain that noisily
Lands upon the roof
Calming me
And lulling me to sleep
On a cold winters night
Is the same rain
That turns my path slush
Making it...

Not a Princess
I am not a princess
I never was
Never have been
I am a filthy pauper
A lowly dirty whore
Who only imagines
A life upon a throne
She doesn't deserve
Who only daydreams
Of castles and riches
She doesn't merit
Who only hopes
For her knight
But little will he know
That I would
Push him
From his horse
Strip him
Of his armor
Steal
His blood-soaked sword
And leave him
Forsaken
To wallow
In memories
Of what was
What could have been
Wondering
Hopelessly
How it could be this way
