Poet Introduction
Hi all, Im a spoken word poet, writer and producer currently making somewhat of a life out of poetry in Melbourne Australia. Was looking for an online community and this seems amazing!

The first time I was arrested..
Just a little ramble from back when i was a youngen on the road.. :)
The first time I was arrested was in Brisvegas back in 07.
I was living in a basement/garage kinda deal with a chronic druggie above me, he once was hospitalised for 3 nights due to pneumonia, came home, ate 15 grams of dope in hash cookie form (assumedly put some Vicks vapour rub on his chest) then coughed up his guts lying sideways across his bed.
He proceeded to excitedly call the hospital and earnestly inform them that they had their medical practise all wrong and that they should...

Trams and suits
Phil was about to go into rehab in a few days time.
Some farmstay kinda deal this time.
He chose to spend his birthday with me watching the butterfly effect, a box of wine under his arm, wide pupil convo with some very on edge housemates of mine, shaking hands and telling stories of me and him from Darwin days.
We sat and watched the movie.
He bit at invisible strings on his wrists tying him there, ashamed to be doing something so normal - he made the beanbag look like a bed of nails and didn't seem to appreciate the aesthetics of Ashton kutchers face.

Wet Ink
This is the first demo off my album "A Night Out In".. hope you dig it, was fun to write a poem and try and work it into rhyming schemes and a song structure.. tough stuff with edits and additions that I wouldnt normally do to a poem :)

Then fill in the features

Oxycontinmoron
Im an Oxycontinmoron - the living dead.
On an irregular pattern of shooting myself down
to get ahead.
Attach it to a body, I just suppose,
juxtaposed way of living such a serious joke.
Rivers run dry and we plead for whats clear..
as mud
so erratic and socratic, I left the irony on
with a thud.
Rolled out of bed this morning
the acid soothed my tongue tip,
nothing ever as contradictory as
letting stable times slip.

The cracks
As we peeled little bits of blutack from under our fingers,
the coffees got cold and the cracks started to show.
We pulled down every little scrap of paper
that she'd stuck up on the walls;
every recipe near the fridge, every poem
near the fireplace, every bill above the sink.
We put all of her paper goods in a box,
and sat and waited for them to burst into flames.
It couldnt surely just sit there, all white and thin,
her life in paper, just sitting there in that box.
It needed to explode, spontaneously combust,
take a finger or two with...

There's someone in my brain
Last night someone tried to break into our house.
They got as far as the back shed
and after busting out the lock,
due to our makeshift roller-door-hold-together..
couldnt get any further.
I was in my room wondering if
anyone was thinking about me
like I was thinking about them.
If the burglar had of got in
I wonder now wether
I would have hugged them and
put the kettle on and said
"thanks for choosing me,
it aint an easy neighbourhood for this type of thing,
really, im flattered it was me you chose"
Nah probably not,...

Natures Butter
Whenever Im feeling particularly anxious about something,
I go to the supermarket
and shoplift avocados with no subtly at all.
I stand in the line in my tight white top
with a large bulge on my shoulder, one at my elbow,
3 on my hip and try to act casual..
then by the time I get home,
the shoplifting anxiety has outweighed the old problem
and im feeling fine again.

The Nevel
We had been sitting in the sauna side by side for about 20 minutes,
me and an old man.
He turned to me with the slow approach a bead of sweat rolls with and asked me where I was from.
I answered, "Country Vic" which is my go to response for city people inquiring.
He seemed amused at this and said he was from Aqaba, Israel.
I told him my folks lived on the Jordan-Israel border just after the 6 day war, which is my go to response for people from Israel.
I tried to think of other things I knew about Israel or Hebrew words or something, but apart from...
